  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

Why does all this stuff have to happen on the West Coast :(

heh. midwest gets nothing... but we do have some great tractor pulls and shows. wooo hooo!

=P

I love how those little lightbulbs look =)

You should hear how they sound ;)

I have. I would say they have more likelyhood to color sound than your average cheeper solid state. I love the pretty glow however. I am a big McIntosh fan, zomg skexy mmMMmmm those big dials and soft green sleek glassed over black. I would like a nice 200-500 watt per channel or so set up for 2 channel. mmMMmmm

I'm more into HT that 2 channel, but about once a month I sit and do nothing but listen to music on me RC-50's

I am having really bad upgraditis though and want a better 2 channel set up and I don't know if going to the energy RC-70's will make it.

I *want* some B&W 800d's but... yeah I could buy some nice land for that kind of lewts.

Indeed. Whether it's new or old, Mac stuff always looks hot. Which is part of why there's such a bad case of boner-ism over all their products online...

One of these days, I'd like to get into home theater, I think when it's done right it can be cool, but the problem is I'd need a huge room to make it worthwhile, and if I've spent $5k on two channels so far, even multiplying that by 5 is painful :D

I have about 3k in the HT not including the projector.

again, i'm small time with my energy speak's but realisticaly, they product about 85% of what I'm looking for, and the price was right. The center especialy stands out.

I'm of the mind that since the rear is such a small amount of the audio, it's not nessicary to really spend tons on surrounds. I may but the rc-70s and move the rc-50's to rear but it seams like a waste to put a tower there.

it's the LFE and center that make the biggest difference.

I should try to find some of these, makes the 1005B's we moved look puny :P

cool looking. I just don't totaly buy into the cost/effectiveness/usability of that type of product. I admit I have never been in the presance, but it's hard to imagine it being of value, unless they are 2,500 and sound like perfection in an odd shaped cabinet.

I am 100% home audio and theater > car audio.

I just see that usualy there is more snake oil out there for home audiophiles and "golden ear" arse holes. I stick with more basic design and "tried and true", because usualy they are more versitile

I love maggies for example, and Martin L's but being just 2 degrees out of axis with the ML's and they sound so unimpressive, and maggies need soooo much room to breathe. Just not practical and I hate when I can't sit a couple inches off axis to enjoy the sound. I often just have listening time with the fiance ( that's weird to say heh) or drinking good beer with buddies and listening that to only have one good chair kills me. Maybe when I have a dedicated listening room and then a seperate HT room, or maybe just a completely different 2 channel system in the same room, then it would be worth it to try sdome exotic rigs.

Here's the thing, though - what would you rather buy, more amplifier power or higher-efficiency speakers?

And for some of us that use very low powered amps, higher-powered amps are out of the question, at least to a certain point :)

Big Altecs like that weren't designed for the home audio crowd, originally. They were what was used in most movie theaters through the 1950's all the way up to the beginnings of Dolby surround...which is why a lot of them are coming up on the used market now, theaters are selling them off. Altec did have a home line of horns that were slightly smaller, like the Model 19, and those still get down and boogie when called upon.

Sounds like you'd be interested in corner horns...they have some of the widest "sweet-spots" I've heard.

if anyone was thinking about seeing the movie 21 def go make the investment it was awsome, my eyes were glued to the screen the whole time, very interesting.

Adapters came :woot:

And so did I after listening to these bookshelf speakers. Goodbye OEM crap speakers

I've heard reviews about it that were meh.

Besides, after No Country & There Will Be Blood, I think the movie industry is taking a break before making good films again :D

dem beats, you should buy my Maggies from me. :)

argh.....

don't temp me!

I can't buy anything else untill I'm out of my apartment!

When I get a house... welll... heh who knows.

movie reviews ftl

I don't know, Rotten Tomatoes seems to follow my opinions about movies pretty closely :)

Ugh, Rotten Tomatoes. Almost as much of a waste of the internet as Fark...:puke: :barf2:

It's going to be ugly. Inside and especially out

ugly is the new beautiful.
