6' ceilings? You mean I can't stand up in your room?

I added up the price of Zaph's ZDT3.5's and came to 358+shipping+enclosures for the pair. Add a nice pre-amp, an amplifier and you would still have budget for a sub setup.

I assume an IB setup is out of the question.

I need to repeat though, only 6'?

Hell, I can't even wear my boots in there.

Only 6 feet, yes. (technically 6'1") I was considering line arrays due to the acoustical advantages of sitting in the "near field"

I would like to eventually get a turntable, right now I primarily listen to classical (vivaldi, bach, mozart, beethoven, tchaiskovsky) etc etc. A little jazz, a lot of classical rock and some metal. IB would be difficult but possible. I figured a huge ported low tuned enclosure would work, or a huge sealed enclosure. I rarely watch movies, and I have a separate set-up for 5.1.

If 5.1 would be possible, it would have to be an afterthought. I would rather have a solid 2.1 than a mediocre 5.1.

If it is tough to IB, definitely do the big ported although it might have to be laying down.

How close are you actually going to be sitting to these?

My room design would put them about 10 feet from the listening position. It can be as far as 35 feet away though

The speakers would be about 7 feet from the listening position, but can be as far as 13 feet away.

I've never built passives but I have the ability to. My dad teaches electronics as part of his automotive curriculum and knows a thing or two. I would be open to either

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Getting smashed by storms, friends and I are drinking in the basement. :)

We just went out and played in the street in the water, it was about 16" or so in the deep spots in the streets.

I am hella jealous!!!!!

We need a nice rain around here. Right about the 12th-13th would work for me just fine.

i WILL be building the zaph 3.5s, and probably using the 15"Q for a sub.

6 foot ceilings in a living space? is that even up to code?

We had golf ball sized hail and now have Tornado warnings.

I live in the basement by choice. Rent is free, and that is good for me as long as I'm in school.
