ok so i know nothing about hdtv, but with normal DVDs is it better for me to run components cables (tv says this is the only way to get 1080i which my dvd player does upconvert to) or run HMDI? the manual doesn't say anything about this being able to do 1080i but i thought HDMI cables were > component?

from what I have read HDMI groups all of the componet cables into one plug. I am thinking of getting a upconvert DVD player, any suggestions Matt?

Fucking xbox 360 just broke, E65 error, apparently the DVD drive crapped out on me. The kicker is I didn't touch it at all from the time that it ran to the time that it didn't run....

My Oppo DV-981HD upconvert looks awesome, but not sure I'd pay for it again either. I don't think there is really to much of a difference in HDMI vs composite, but then I could be wrong.

MORALLY its wrong, but go return the bitch.............tell wal mart u got it as a graduation gift (or something) and it crapped out on you. You want a new one. OR go buy a new one and return it............with the old one in the box.

I love mine, I have the Yamaha one, but I only got it b/c it matched my reciever. I think it's like 75$ @ Best Buy right now.

Just a warning about the returning the old one in the new one's box......I was standing at walmarts return one time and this middle-aged guy was in the next line over returning a playstation 2. The lady behind the counter opens the box and says to the gentleman "Sorry but I can't accept this return." The guy of course asks why and she says the reason is because the serial # of the unit does not match the serial # associated with the box. The guy then gets this fake confused look on his face, says "huh, that's odd", grabs the box and walks back out of the store.....LOL
