I have devised a new scheme..............anyone wanna help??

J

I'm really interested in this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16183_...k+METER-4.html#

Anyone have experience?

Sonic is fine, that piece isn't necessary though.

I know the site is okay, why do you say it isn't necessary?

I really don't understand why you would want it. It does no benefit IMO.

I want to have voltage and temperature of my SAZ-3000D in view.

What part of the amp are you going to monitor the temperature on? ... and why?

Voltage is easy and you don't need that piece of junk to do it.

So you don't like the company? Why?

You didn't even come close to answering my question either. :(

Sorry Sean. I would like to monitor the temperature on the heatsink. Where would you suggest?

Voltage should be simple to understand guys, I'm not going to pop my trunk and run out with my DMM every few minutes to check voltage I want something I can always see. Like the voltage at my rear battery bank.

You are going to make decisions of some sort based on heat sink temp? Your heatsink won't fail with high heat btw and has many other factors that regulate its temperature besides just the extra heat from the amp.

Not sure why you'd have to pop your trunk to use a DMM if you are willing to run a wire for that gauge.

Okay look Sean, it gets hot in the summer, if I look at my temperature gauge and see my amp is at 175 F I'm probably going to turn it down, or off. Does that make sense?

I don't know what you mean by running the wire, I don't see your point.

conference call hell again

Where do you work or what company do you work for?

Just wondering.

Not really public information. Generically speaking I manage the worldwide sales team for a very specialized set of measurement equipment. Our focus in is the Frequency domain and making measurements that no one else can do. I do a ton of government research, medical research, electronic technology, microstructure, and other forms of research. We also consult with all of the high end speaker/driver manufacturers to make sure that their parts will do what they expect. Audio is just a side hobby for me, but I have a major in Physics aminor in Acoustics and 12 years of experience working in the frequency domain so I understand that aspect rather well.

Really, why 175? Why at the heatsink?

I am just asking questions because I really don't understand what useful information this will give you. No more detail than, holy crap its hot maybe I shouldn't wang. Spending money, albeit only a measly $35 isn't worthwhile unless it does something for you. I just want to make sure you realize what it will and what it won't do.

IMHO, keeping an eye on temperature is ok if the conditions are very tough. My old Viper crapped out on me because I wasn't paying attention to the temperature. 30 mins after I disconnected it it was still too hot to touch. But it was playing full-tilt, in 100deg weather, direct sunlight, below the stable impedance. Something was bound to happen.

You could find a very hot day, run everything at full-boogie and monitor the temp then. If everything is ok in very bad conditions, nothing to worry about in other cases.

Keeping an eye on voltage is good if you plan on running with the engine off (which I wouldn't do with a lot of power). With the engine on you could check it from time to time to make sure everything is working ok but if the alt takes a poop you will get a warning from the car.

I do sometimes, drive in movies and such, that's why I would like the gauge inside the car.

I'm also saving for a H.O. alternator.

Switched to Graphite, much easier on the eyes

I concur.

Does it involve making money, drinking booze, and women?

If so I'm totally down for it. :)

Put me in on that ;)

x3 :bigclap:

I haven't shit in 5 days, this gas they pumped into me is killing me, and the vicodin makes me sleepy for a couple hours then I'm wide awake again. Add into that I live with a total bitch and this is turning into an UGLY summer.

Might have to sell the new wheels to buy another house. . .

might be the vic, i know vicodin fucks my stomach up pretty good when i take it, has the plugging effect of raw pork on me.

So i just got a infinity SM 155 tower sub . i'm not too impressed with how loud it is. i want to take it louder. Do you guys think it will make a difference if i build a new box for it. i don't expect much because i paid 25 bucks for it, but i would like it louder. What could i do different to make it louder if i built a box?

Sell it and put the money towards something else. I'd sure bet it is fairly close to maxed out and while you could surely get a little more in a new box, you'll probably kill the driver as well.
