I need some help guys with aeros.

Ask away....

I need to know how long of aeroports i need the quantity to achieve a 35hz tuning along with 210 in^2 of port ( i know i can use less but i'm not sure how much less)

I'll probably just be using 4" ports from Madisound

oh and how much they would displace from the total airspace in the box.

Need enclosure volume. Are the ports flared? Why not 6" psp?

lets do 4.8 Ft^3

4" flare kit from Madisound is only 12 bucks :)

Unless a 6" port would be better.. I don't know lol

  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

16 4" aeros would be 201in^2 on port area.

Use 6" aeros or get some of adrians

You need to model your drivers and enclosure in winisd and adjust port area while checking the vent mach.

200in^2 sounds like way more thenyou need, otherwise your port lengths are absurd.

6 10's with an xmax of 25mm tuned to 35hz,

Lots of port.. lol

Port Diameter: 6in

Number of Ports: 7

Port Length Each: 87.32in

Port Area Total: 197.92in^2

Tuning: 35hz

Enclosure Volume: 4.8ft^3

How about the build a RWD platform, moderate displacement I-6, with optional turbo model upgrade, all of which can come in a 2 door coupe, sedan or sport wagen. 3 series for the USA? ;)

Too bad we'll never see another inline 6 in the states again.

Main reason I am still so traumatized at the loss of the sled, smoothest big I-6 that actually had torque. It was still pristine internally with 187k on it. So sad, poo. :badmood2:

Curious what the sled was.

SICK! That's a cool ass car Aaron. Looks brand new from what's pictured too. Sorry to hear you don't have it anymore :(

Enclosure volume is way too small for that much cone area.

Can I guess, kevin said it was okay?

Im not sure by how much, that would only apply if they are flared, helps with less turbulence, less noise, ability to use less area, I believe.

Is that 4.8cubes gross or net.

Well trying to fit that much port area with that tuning is going to make very very port lengths.

WELL

What do you suggest an adequate amount of port area would be? Vance Dickason's method of figuring out port area is far to much evidently, 210 for 6 10's with 25mm of xmax tuned to 35hz is what i'll be needing.

Let's assume i can get away with 25% less port with flares, I would end up with 157.5 in^2 of port so that would be... what two 6 in Aeroports?

Julian what drivers are you looking at? Sounds like you need less drivers or go sealed.

Shhh aaron will be disapoint with me :(

Skar 10's

Suggested is ~1 cube each so i went with .8 to fit them better.

.8*6= 4.8 Ft^3

Less cone area.

Sitting on a bed in ER bored out of my mind, playing a game to see how low I can get my heart rate.

So far I got to 38 if I close my eyes and relax, otherwise im 40-50

Port Diameter: 6in Number of Ports: 2 Port Length Each: 22.53in Port Area Total: 56.55in Tuning: 35hz Enclosure Volume: 4.8ft^3

I bet that would have tons of noise too :P
