That seems to be a rarity now. I can't think of any reggae albums that I really like either.

I don't listen to any of it really right now and haven't since the mid-90's but even then there wasn't any new stuff really. Obviously exceptions but not so many.

It pretty much died in the 70's IMO, but I haven't given "newer" artists like Nasio Fonatine etc much listening time.

UPS showed up at like 6. Starting wiring everything and within ten minutes it was dark.

Finally finished everything up, setup my baseline crossover points, played it, wasn't impressed at all.

One thing that sucks, you can't just go to a menu and adjust the xover points, you have to start all over...

HPF: 60hz, 24db/slope mid crossed at 2500hz 24db/slope. It sounded like the tweeter almost wasn't even playing. At higher volume, there was a ripping sort of sound.

HPF: 60hz, 24db/slope mid crossed at 2000hz 24db/slope. better

HPF: 60hz, 24db/slope mid crossed at 1500hz 24db/slope. sounded more full, at higher volume it was still crisp, no "ripping" sound.

HPF: 60hz, 24db/slope mid crossed at 1250hz 24db/slope. a tad better then before.

Still have to adjust the channel gains. Going to play around more with the crossover points and slopes in the am, don't even want to touch the EQ until I'm satisfied with xovers.

But as of now, It went from complete shit, 20 minutes later, way more midbass, big improvement on the higher spectrum vocals, etc.

So yeah, now the fun begins as Sean put it.

Raised the crossover point, lowered the slope. Sounds much better.

At first, I could switch it to defeat and go WTF this sounds so much better then active lol...

But I have plenty of time and this is a good thing for me to tweak and mess with, instead of cutting up door panels or fiberglassing dash just for something to do.

IIRC it does have a a lock for it. If not returned it shall be.

The bellhousing is chipped already........worried it might get nicked again.......AZ sucks on fixing potholes. Especially on post.

What mids are you using? That's kinda low on the upper end for my taste(1250) but could definitely be appropriate depending on your speaker.

Also keep in mind that the steepest slope is not always the best. You may find that a more shallow slope and lower/higher crossover point is much better (on the low or high end).

Are you able to adjust your tweet crossover? For the upper end on your mids you may find it easier to get your initial point with no tweet at all, so you can tell when the mids break up easier, especially if you have a hearty tweet.

Well I've done about 2 hours of testing today and it's getting better. I still need to find out which driver is making a "rip" sound at higher volume. I think I'll disconnect the tweeters and that'll tell me soon enough.

Mids are exodus ex-anarchy, tweets are peerless hds.

Raising the crossover point and lowering the slope has helped.
