I got my exodus' in the doors:

Still need to make a trim piece to cover the hacked up part of the door and speaker, and order deadener for the doors. Then I'll be able to tell if they work out in the doors (IB) or not.

I'm still going to try a midrange driver in lieu of the tweeter, mounted on the dash, and see if I like that more then the hds tweets.

If you can't get them ON axis it is really NOT a good idea.

I can, as long as the OD is under 3.5". Now if I decided to go with a bigger midrange (~4"), then see below.

The stage height improved immensely when I placed the tweeters up on the dash, I'm curious if the tweets were aimed differently in the kicks if that could achieve similar results. Though I thought even if they were a bit off in the kicks, the stage height wouldn't have affected.

Otherwise I could always put a midrange + tweeter in the kicks, that won't take up much room, and I could use the on-board amp on the ms8 for the tweets. :trippy:

Definitely different aiming in your kicks can do the same.

4" is rather big for in car, but I LOVE my TB's. Getting them on axis and potentially in an enclosure is a much higher priority.

:fing34: the TB's are fucking fantastic in my kicks.

Which driver specifically?

Not liking the new ubuntu :(

everything is hidden..

I told you. :P

Change the gui back to gnome.

I wish I had a chicken pot pie right now.

First impression "oh this is cool".

First impression as I tried to do something besides browse the web ":fuuu:"

Yep.

Open up the software center app and search for gnome-fallback. Install, restart, at login switch the gui to gnome classic.

price is a bit steep now. i picked them up for about ~45$ a year ago.

these are the same sean is referencing. IIRC, he runs a pair indoors.

sean might have some input on the the cheaper ferrite motor models.

I was also looking at those, but paid more attention to others mainly due to the cone material. Although I did read the cone is fairly thin and doesn't offer the average metal cone sounding characteristics, so yeah. :ughdunno:

:P

im done with this motherfucker.

Bah, Neo. No point. It's only performance advantage is less weight, but it costs more even with less material. What's the point?

I wasn't looking at them specifically because they used neo. Depth will play some part in my choice, and the relatively slim neo motor may prove to be easier to fit on my dash. But neo or not neo isn't any concern for me.

I know, but that is the issue with their price.

Definitely. Especially considering their price one year to the next.

I am going through 5 speed withdrawal.

i assume this was the reason TB brought out ferrite models for many of current drivers.

quite a large ass for a 4 incher

the cone material on this driver is very fragile. i cant comment on the metal characteristics (nothing stands out to me) but i would like to compare it against the bamboo cone version some day.

I think I'll likely order the bamboo ones and try them out.

I've been listening to the same songs for the last couple weeks on my headphones, getting well acquainted with the material for testing. :trippy:

Honestly, I forget I have a 5spd most of the time. Of course, my car has no balls whatsoever. If I were shopping for a sports car I'd have to have a manual transmission if available though.

Stefan, are you trying the TB without a tweeter first?
