They all drive Ford's so no mazzerrati for me :(

Hey, I wouldn't mind a Ford but they are all european econoboxes...

When I was stationed in England, I had a 87 Ford Escort GT ... Awesome Sporty ride ... Not so easy getting use to the sterring wheel on the right side ...

87, back when they used to make nice cars...

kinda quick for a 4 banger ...

Funny, since I was just reading about the Chrysler 2.2 turbo...

Yes, it's Chrysler but still, very good performance for that age.

But it wasn't actually a Chrysler engine. It was a Mitsubishi. Ford's 4 cylinder Duratec engines are Mazdas, the GM Duramax Diesel is an Isuzu, etc. . .

The trend isn't exclusive to Ford either. There are quite a few manufacturers that soften up the American versions of their cars. Says a lot about our market

You can thank lawyers and the NHTSB for that.

Kicks. Keep those drivers as close to each other as possible. You'll lose stage height, but it'll make your life easier.

And thank you

Dash can be a beyotch processing wise with the reflections. Then add separation on the two drivers and a minimal crossover at best and I am for kicks all the way with those. :) Try to open up the area behind the mid as much as possible so it can "breath"

Started the kicks, man is it a bitch to wrap the fabric around without getting overlayed. I used part of the stock plastic that goes up the side. I think in the morning I'm going to lay down some foil and make a base from the floor, cut it nice and smooth, round off any edges, and hopefully have some better luck.

Also saw some youtube videos where people only used cloth, resin, and body filler, no fiberglass mat. :WTFBubble:

Also saw a few people using laser pointers to help aim the drivers :P

Or the cheap ass american buyer

I figured that was a given, but given the outlandish price of new vehicles, I find it okay to be a cheap buyer in the automotive world.

I would never buy new

Yes, I have seen as well, seems like an idea to try.

Couldn't get the fabric properly wrapped, ended up using tape and cardboard so give some "support" for the fiberglass to stick. At least in the morning I'll have something to work with. I'll likely start over from glassing the floor area.

Well see...

In Europe, your Fords look like this:

and this:

Can't forget the Cosworth Escort :)

The Escort RS Cosworth is a beast.

Wrapping in fabric is always a bitch. I hate it...

Didn't they use the complete 4g63 from Mitsubishi (2.0) and develop the 2.2 turbo from their own block ? And as far as I could read in the article they worked with Lotus on the third version of the 2.2 turbo.

3pm today on ESPN the local LL team will be playing.

Damn it is staring to feel like fall with this 40F morning. :WTFBubble:

Look out Aaron one more day until those wack jobs from spookhaven are heading to Baltimore. :ghost:

I used to work for a guy who built these engines in the factory. He had a ton of them at the shop I worked at and really knows them well. HE stated, Mitsu prototyped, Chrysler engineers approved, then Chrysler built the engine. It's actually pretty common place for manufacturers to do these types of things. Have you ever noticed that when the Toyota Tundra finally got as big as the Big 3 American trucks Ford finally broke into the field with hybrid technology? The Tundra's chassis is a reworking of the F-150s, and the Ford Hybrid system is a modified Toyota first gen system.

So the idea is Toyota looks the other way while Ford copies their design if Ford does the same for them?

Sounds like, "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours"

Didn't notice the Ford hybrid idea but I did guess that the Tundra had some F-150-like features. Interesting concept...both companies had benefits.

That's what I did, err, sort of. I used the pointers to make sure I was consistent with my aiming, not to aim. IE, you find the angle that you want your drivers at by testing and then I used a laser pointer in a bracket to help me aim when I glassed the driver. Aiming based on a laser is silly if it isn't in the right direction :)
