Social life is less than negative. It has got to turn around. I have a massive headache, it must be making me feel bleak.

I'm considering writing and Android program (Java based)

Don't know if I said it hear before but it will be designed as an "in-car" application

I'll probably just start on Android 4.0 since my phone has it and my new tablet will soon.

I've been reading for a while now and haven't made it out of Android basics...

Wish me luck

Should be simple...

Work on the platform you can also test. Much better to test on the actual application instead of a simulator.

I plan on developing for Android 4.0 only at first because I will own a phone and tablet running 4.0 soon.

Adrian_D, I may be PM'ing you some for some pointers. I'm a Mechanical Engineer by trade and have only dabbled in very very small amounts of C++. I really have no idea what I'm getting into with Java.

Shoot away :)

Okay, how do I do anything??? lol

Honestly, that is the point I am at and I have been reading for a couple days. However I found some tutorials to do some simple programs which is the best way for me to learn. Hopefully I can be off and running with some of my own simple programs very soon.

1. Get something like Netbeans or Eclipse. They all have packages only for Java, since I believe you don't need a lot of developer tools.

2. Look at Sun's tutorials. Hello world, using forms etc to get your feet wet.

I'll look for some tutorials I have saved...

Got Eclipse and the Android plug in to go with it. I've gotten all the current API err ADK err whatever downloaded from Google.

Funny thing is the 1st Android tutorial is called Hello world as well. Must be the same.

Speaking about you or in general?

Hello world is the most basic thing you can do.

First thing I asked at my job was how can I print stuff for debug

This is something I've used a lot:

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/

But I am not sure if there is a Swing-like API for Android.

In any programming language they all start off with a "hello world", basic method of outputting text to the screen.

I thought about making an app for android a few months back, but got lazy. Tuned in. :P

That's it, we are not having another Outrageous Deal for a while, if ever. The begging on (mostly other sites) just does not stop long after they have been over. I have had it. Absolutely disgusting.

/Monday rant.

Just say something like: After this day we will no longer answer emails about the deal and we will no longer be selling anything at the deal price. It will be as if it never happened. If you ask us we will reply with, "I don't know what your talking about the (product) is always priced at $XXXX.XX"

I wish, but I have a policy of answering every damn email, no matter how stupid, that comes in.

I can attest to this. :lol2:

I'm being a wimp.

He's not lying bro. Venting your frustrations can be one of the best things to get on the road to feeling better.

God knows I've had to do it myself from time to time.

I haven't shaved in a few years, lol

Well, my face!

Two 50 degree days in a row. I don't know what to think anymore. I was sure we were going to have another nasty winter, but shit, we've had one day of sticky snow and only two days of coverage since then.

Do they have a name picked out?

Addysen, or Addison. I don't know how she's spelling it.

I really like that name.

I've gotten this twice tonight. Anyone else?

So, so, so tired of immature people.

No darling, that's not how relationships work. That's how sluts work.

Do you see the difference? Or would a pictorial representation suit you better?

Well, despite the fact it sucks for you that is a good business practice. hmmm custom filter on your email that automatically composes a "deal pricing is no longer available" email when the incoming email has certain phrasing. Maybe it could only compose the message and you could review/edit before sending it.
