Have you priced out Toyota Land Cruisers/Lexus LX's?

Papi doesn't do so well in most Japanese vehicles.

Though I like big SUVs I like them to be mildly capable on questionable dirt roads. And I know 3guys who work on American trucks for me for a song.

It would be really tough to pull me away from the 5.4 liter too.

Land Cruiser/LX's are more than "mildly" capable wink.png

And ultra ugly to boot

My next purchase for the Egg...mmm, pizza napoletana...

dunno what the wooden doohickey is for, just the first image I pulled from Google

Does anyone know another word for thesaurus?

I LMAO

Yeah, movies. That's what it's called when the capture all the sensor in/outputs and programming. I would venture to say only a programmer could get around it or you pay off the diagnostic techs at the dealership and corporate.

No, only engineers can access movie data. This is done just in case someone tries to sue the manufacturer, as in the case of Toyota with their infamous "sticking throttles". As techs, we are only supplied a few frames of freeze frame data.

But yes, we can also read calibration data and do know if the brain had been flashed.

How about piggyback chips that are removed before bringing things in?

Nope. They distort incoming and outgoing data, they don't actually manipulate the brain itself. However by removing them all freezeframe data and code info is also lost since the brain is completely powered down (called a battery disconnect) so it is apparent to us that someone has manipulated the system.

Newer ECMs will retain information (dubbed mode $10) that can retain more info, but it is brand new and not widely available. I have heard about it and it has been touched on briefly in a class I went to recently, but it is so new and used so sparsely I am not really up to par with it yet. My understanding is it's depth and memory retention is quite vast, up to the past 50 drive cycles worth of retention.

FWIW with Euros not really digging the ODBII standards I don't expect them to be in the forefront of these technologies (mode $0X standards are US EPA based standards). Expect them in higher end domestics first.

Cool. I will investigate as this may allow me an M without paying for an M. :) As for the battery disconnect, that I can explain. All sorts of reasons why I pulled the battery

I will be trying it soon! Thanks guys.

Play with the flour to adjust the crust to your taste. You will love it, I just hope you have a mixer with a dough hook.

If not you can do it by hand, but then I'd up the protein in your flour. I like mine kneaded to shit.

Yeah I've got a good ole KitchenAid. I like a chewier crust so I'll be trying it with some bread flour to start. Hopefully I can use the recipe as a starting point and adjust it to my liking. If I get it down I might just have to find a better cooking method.

I cook mine on the egg at very high temps.

Me too. Although on Sunday I made it in the oven. My oven goes to 550F. Pre-heat for an hour with a 2" x 12" x 12" piece of landscaping slate on the bottom shelf. Works for a nice crusty and chewy crust.

I bet it comes out great like that. Sadly the best that I have is an electric oven on 500 and a stone.

That method works plenty good. Not as good as an Egg at 600 but still good biggrin.png

Or at 800 and above smile.png

Better have an uber thin crust at that temp :)

And if you use a stone, use a thick one. The crap ass ones like the pampered chef shit are garbage and don't work for jack. When not in use you can plop it upside down (to keep the grease out of the pores) on your gas grill and use it as a surface for holding food or cooking things that fall through the grates.

Home made pizza sounds good. I think I'll go to Home Depot sometime this week, and look for a slab.

I went with a 16x16x.75 natural stone tile from lowes, it was like $8.

I get ya. They are cool. But they are SO much more expensive. Parts and service is too. The second truck is highly modified and I promise the parts are nearing double the parts for the ford. I also have a code reader/tuner for Ford, and a working understanding and familiarity of what these trucks can and cant do.I also use the vehicle to move drywall or ply or MDF. I don't know how well 4x8s would fit. They do in my expy with the hatch open just a bit.Even the amazing tundra doesn't do it for me. I think US made trucks are a better value for the US customer.

Both the Tacoma and the Tundra are built right down the road in San Antonio ;)

Besides, if you're going to buy any truck at all, it damn well better be a Unimog :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

INDEED!!!

Just being a smart ass wink.png

It is true though. Those are made to dip into the US market. If I could afford one of the new deisel crew cabs I might do that... but it's way out of my price.

72 oz down and no buz yet.

I didn't like the cider I've tried in the UK.

For the past few days at camping I've been drinking plum brandy. STRONG stuff, could bring tears with a small shot. It helps tremendously in cold weather

Anyone familiar with xenon headlights? I have a small problem. After the car sits for a while one of the headlights won't start immediately after switched on. I have to switch multiple times between rear lights/headlights for it to start. Just annoying!

Sounds like the balast is taking a shit.

.....is the Lincoln navigator the same as an expedition? I'm finding them on craigslist for better prices than the expeditions and even screw f-150's. It's all the same frame and so same suspension etc etc.

They look good but if they are not as rugged I'll pass.

Much more sound deadening for NVH, full time AWD, the Lincoln has air suspension, and the 99+ Navis got DOHC heads. 5lbs of boost and you're over 500HP.

So pull out your checkbook. :)

If I had 50k to blow and only wanted one vehicle to drive I would be all about the raptor. I would rather have a quick vehicle and a truck vehicle.

Toyota has won the world over with their SUVs and trucks. No need to question their capability. The mechanic option is a consideration, but I'm sure you could find a good one for a Toy.
