San Jose can be pretty fobby.

Brad,

Did you do anything to keep the dang power leads in the DX?  Sometimes in mid-cornering it tends to shut off.  The little screws are adjusted tightly and on heavy enough wire, I just don't get it.  They are about to be soldered....

How do you have it mounted ?

I noticed that if you have the screw all the way unscrewed, and have the crossover vertically mounted, that sometimes it's almost like the screw won't fully catch the clamp, and it wouldn't tighten all the way.

What I did was always make sure that I had the crossover horizontal when I connected the wiring. Worked fine for me from there-on-out. Because one time I did experience what you seem to be experiencing....I had the unit mounted vertically, *thought* I had everything tightened down...yanked the wires for my final "before I close the trunk" check, and the ground wire came right out.

So, like I said....if you have it mounted vertically, try connecting the wires while it's horizontal instead.

have fun on the drive.

Finally get a break after 10.5 hours of driving. Cruising on the freeway is a nice change.

We'll see about the moving. I'd like to, but I've only got about a day (this trip down) to look around. I have a list of homes to look at in Thousand Oaks ... there are some nice 3 bed/3 bath/1600 sq ft homes there.

Been through plenty of those...

I've stopped in a few Bumfuck, VA's at times on route to MECA events...driving to the WV Soundfest last October I stopped in some choke & puke breakfast joint for a biscuit and coffee, wearing a Red Sox hat and a Rolling Stones shirt...if you've seen Easy Rider, imagine the scene in the cafe in Louisiana, that's what this was like :D

Oh, and they let you in the country?

Pfft, border security these days...

The only part of building stuff I absolutely hate is sourcing the components...

Why can't I find a damn 200k stereo balance control somewhere that sells them individually, this can't be *that* difficult...

Thousand Oaks eh? Don't think I've been there but looking at their website, seems to be a pretty nice city. 126k people, median income of $86k, median home price 630k, number of oak trees 50k+, median age 37.7. Looks like they have a golf course there too, which you'd probably like.

nothing but meetings and such

Haha ... it's actually becoming more of a pain in the ass now.

They're entering the vehicle and license plate (as well as who is in the vehicle) into their system, plus where you're going, where you're staying, what you're doing, and how long you're going to be there - guess if I make too many trips down there I'll get put on the hit list

Yeah, 630k is the scary thing. Real scary. For 550k, you're basically looking at a townhome ... some actually seem rather nice though :)

Fremont seems ok right now, sort of an in-and-out thing real quick.

I like how I can get an internet connection nearly everywhere.

The Volvo was awesome to drive down here. I wouldn't let the other guy drive :P Makes me wish I had a big luxury cruiser. 200 miles on US 97 and another ~ 190 on I5 was great. It's only about 5.5 hours to Thousand Oaks from what I gather. Almost 300 miles on the I-580/I-5. Hopefully the highway patrol isn't out.

Actually spent all day at Seagate today doing the same. The inner workings of the 1" drives are incredible to watch in the clean room. I can't wait until somebody comes out with an Ipod/Cell phone/Digital Camer/Windows Pocket PC that has a real camera and a real hardrive (60gb+). I'd pay more for one of those than a laptop if it were small.
