A skier starts at the top of a very large, frictionless snowball, with a very small, initial speed, and skis straight down the side. At what point does she lose contact with the snowball and fly off tangent? That is, at the instant she loses contact with the snowball, what angle a does a radial line from the center of the snowball to the skier make with the verticle?

i know it's not 90 degrees

the skier has a horizontal velocity component as she goes down the ball so that would make her fly off before she reaches 90 degrees

the tangent just implies that she flies off tangent to the circle

you can have a tangent line at any point along the circumfrence of the circle

At this point my searching is better than my logic when it comes to classical. Basically it is just a conservation of energy question: add up the Kinetic and potential at both angles and set them equal to each other and bang.
