weak sauce

formatted the HD, currently running XP Pro setup

*yawn*

I debating whether to buy the old ass radio in the thrift store that is old enough it uses tubes....I just like old radios....

If it's a receiver, I'd pass. If it's a tuner, depends on what kind...problem with old tubed radios are that they might need an alignment, early FM stereo receivers that are tubed may have horrible MPX decoding for the stereo signal. Just isn't stable enough usually.

I hate reformating and reinstalling window, I've done it WAYYY to many times.

First time I've had to do it on the XPS in the two years I've had it...so I consider myself lucky.

Thinking about running a version of Linux, with OpenOffice, just for times like two weeks ago when the OS goes kaput and I can't make it home to reinstall everything.

Its an old stereo cabinet w/ turntable in it and AM/FM tuner. I'm not sure what kind, I didn't see a brand on it, it says 45wrms?? The cabinet's in pretty good shape though. IDK...

Buy the radio, smash the t00bs and take pics and send them to jim

When I was unpacking chit that I brought back from winter break, I had a pair of 6CG7 preamp tubes...one got crushed and the little tip was broken off.

I cried a little...

Inside.

Setup will complete in approximately 29 minutes....

Hey Jim, on my behringer tube preamp... To replace the tubes, Do I just pull the black plastic thing off the top of the tubes, then pull the tubes straight out, or what? Another thing when I get home is to replace them w/ some of those Sovteck ones(whatever the spelling is).

What's more annoying then installing XP is reinstalling all the other programs and little chit, like Photoshop, Itunes, Winamp, FF, AIM, and the like...

Black plastic thing? I assume that's some sort of tube damper or something...but you're right. Just pull it firmly out, not too difficult.

Sovtek 12AX7LPS's are probably the best new production version out there, unless you go new old stock (which get expensive quick).

The other versions of 12AX7's that Sovtek makes are basically crap.
