Silly British and their component sets.

I'm thinking of putting the tubes back in the one monoblock I have here, opening the case on the new preamp and seeing if everything works well...so what if I've only got one channel here...:D

Nah, needed to tweak the wooden base a bit, I built it a little too small and it probably would have seperated the miter joints over time. So I had to bring it back with me from B'burg and fiddle with it.

Whooosh................fire house!!!!

And it's gone!!!

I wanted to go with a true tube preamp, but mines a hell of alot cheaper.

I thought about going with a full tube preamp for mine, but...there's no getting around the fact that a AC-heated, tube rectified cathode follower is noisy. Especially with efficient speaks.

The nice thing about the Rogue is that it should be stone quiet...

Hello JimJ it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Blow me.

Since I've gone with DC filaments in the monos, I'm never going back to AC again :fing34: Hum? Lamination rattle? Whuzzat?

My HiFi News has a very interesting article on tube coolers/dampeners in it. He measured the resonance of the tubes (glass part I believe) and the best solution was to place the cage on the amps. Just like from the factory.
