Only problem is I'd need a basement and restaurant hookups to make enough biodiesel to make it cost effective.

The stuff's non-toxic, but the process of making it puts you in close proximity with some nasty stuff.

If I knew how to make It I would (I know straight vedtable oil will work if it isnt too cold). Ive probably been close proximity with things a lot more dangerous.

Making it work in unmodded engines involves mixing it with sodium hydroxide and letting it ferment. You get biodiesel with glycerine as a byproduct.

Straight veggie oil works, but like you said, you can't start the engine with it.

Not to mention that you'll be replacing fuel lines for a little bit...heck of a lot better solvent than regular diesel is.

So you like sitting close to a 1/2 stick of dynamite for when you get in a wreck?

Explain?

The propellent behind airbags is equal to about a 1/2 stick of dynamite. No joke.

Holy Hell, I knew they where strong (we shot a 55gal drum up like on dirty jobs one time). I dont sit THAT close though. Im at about a slightly bent arm's length.

So biodiesle = ferminted soap?

So I can get my biodiesle then use the glycerine with my Nitric acid and make some nitroglycerine.

As far as NaOH being dangerous? Not the safest stuff in the world but nothing compared to some of the things Ive done after raiding the chemistry lab. :rofl2:

Anarchey's cook book = a bunch of BS and misconstrued information now that I actually know some chemistry.

gonna make 4800 by tonight.

Yeah, but it's part of the BBS culture, lol...

Thanks for the link Jim, Very informative.

does it really make your exaust smell like frenchfries and less harmful to breathe?

They wrote a book on the subject - From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank. Tons more info out there on veggie-oil based fuels.

sweet.

When I get a diesel truck I'll tell ya :)

I need a hair cut.

You gonna breathe it for me for extended periods of time and get back to me on both parts? :ehh:;)

I don't really care about either, really...the exhaust could smell like daisies and rainbows for all I care, if it's costing me 80 cents a gallon :P

LMAO

The attractive thing is that I wouldn't have to give up my preferences for big vehicles...a dual-tank Suburban would be a perfect vehicle to modify for straight veggie oil :)
