Mornin folks. Up early to start tinkering with my line arrays some more.

I'm up early...just because I was drinking last night :(

it happens

Mo pics of said line arrays? :)

It is very much still in construction phases. Right now I am working on solving imaging issues before proceeding with final construct.

A C/P of recent update to build thread on CA. I swear I had one here too, but it is now gone.

Update kind of.

I have no new pics, because I am not any further in constructiion/finishing. They are where they were. I test fit and temporarily mounted all components and brad nailed the back panel very conservatively. I did this just to get an idea of what I am going to end up with.

First up is looks. It is exactly what I wanted n that department. It fills the area designated for them nicely. Yes it is a penis enlarger, in which case brings me to a perceptual 15" lol. This is one of the reason I chose this design for my first HT build. I like the small footprint and phallic appearance.

They sound alright. I have already realized the flaw of my design. I should have went with more tweeters. I know you're saying WTF??? you has 12 already!! It isn't output that bothers me. It is imaging when seated. This is what makes expensive planars the same height as the mid line, great in this design. When I am standing, it sounds really good. A lot better than my cheap sonys I have been limping with(so yes my reference isn't as good as others.) The crossover needs to be worked with after I get my galaxy mic to analyze what I have now.

My only solution to the imaging problem is a floating mount that swivels down. I was thinking some arm that can tilt holding it from bottom rear bolted to a wall stud. Then a cable system attached near the top rear of the cabinet which us also bolted to wall stud. This way I can have them straight up when having gatherings, then tilt them toward the seats for optimum listening conditions. Anyone have reasons why this isn't a good idea? As it stands now, seated listening is innacceptable.

BTW this design definitely accompishes it's main goal. It is so efficient that it isn't even funny. On my Yamaha with a supposed 110 per channel they get stupid loud. My next project may be a more appropriate HT design and I'll move these to the back patio to piss everyone off if the mood strikes me lol.

My Galaxy CM-140 came in Friday. A-weighted at full tilt with just Line arrays and sub going at it, I am peaking around 115 at listening position.

Feel free to post stuff in the Home Audio section...needs projects like that :P

those arrays look...frightening

and yeah, your build log was one of the (countless) things that went *poof* when the server went beserk...

slow in hurrrr

wake up people

I will redo the thread when I'm less lazy. I had one before, I just know I did. I think it was flushed in the upgrade.

Stupid loud is all I can say. I have much work ahead to tame some issues with them. I will need a proper XO design after I find faults with exisiting setup. I have 5 layers of laquer to brush on all 32 cones as well. For some cheap drivers they have much potential in them though. I am impressed with the nsb.

I think Thy's right, going with more tweets would help some of your imaging problems...

Getting warmer here.

Barely.

Luckily these tweets are in stock, because I may do that. I have been too lazy to figure out how many I need to remain at 8 ohms though. Each tweet is 6 ohm. Luckily I picked up a set of L-pads from the get go, as I anticipated the tweeters to be overpowering with my original design. If I go the route of more tweets then these pads will prove crucial lol.

Bah, drop lower and get a rack amp or two :D

Morning.

Have you notched out some of the response with either eq or passive components for that baffle? More highs should help, but I think taming what you have might be part of the issue as well.

grow torrents grow

need to get my uploaded ratio back up over .5 again :(

Steve:

I thought I remembered you saying awhile ago you would like some of the TC radiators for your uber woofer in the house...

Thanks for the link. I wonder if they'd work ...

The original PR's were 18" and the guys that are utilizing that setup are running two of them.

I spoke with Josh when I bought mine and he said even the pair of 18s were borderline in the displacement. That thing must wang more than he said it could.

Got the chevelle out again today, bleed the brakes, now she actually stops when you push the pedal down. Forgot that it'll set it sideways if you mash it from a stopsign, 'twas fun. :)

Working on a ported box for my DD1008 for my S-10. It'll be around .8 cubes to 40hz. Be a fun little play toy if my USA-300 amp actually works.
