I can tell you personally i would have preferred my 880 over my 8053 if the 880 didn't have the awful whine. My 8053's whine only developed after screwing with my amp wiring, which hopefully will be fixed today if the weather allows

Comes down to graphic versus parametric eq. I really like the l/r eq of the 880. The 9831 and 8053 are both para eq though. Personally I'd like both. Parametric to help the install and graphic to help the recording. Looks like I need processor solution then.

Happy Easter!

  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

IMO, processing should be all external. HUs should be nothing more than transport and volume control.

I'd agree for now, but they are different budget solutions altogether. In the future there should be no reason not to be able to have all the processing that any offboard proc has onboard though.

I know. I am not one to step up with technology. Yes, it can be done, but I like things simple. I don't want my Headunit in that much control. I don't want to depend on it to do all that processing, try to play a CD, amplify, tune, and handle all the other associated chores. It just causes more stress on it. More components, processes, and heat so more potential for failure. I'm old school.

Went to work today to deal with some paperwork and came across an advertisement on one of the student bulletin boards ... "1 resonant engineering eight inch competition sub for sale - $80"

Kind of chuckled ... but glad at the same time that someone here knows of RE.

80 for a used RE8, hell I think I paid 42 bucks or something a piece when I bought my RE 12's new...

It is taking everything I have to hold back from replying to that weightlifting thread at the shithole Lounge ... pretty sure 99% of the stuff in there has come straight from someone's ass.

Not worth it ... their six months in the gym and creatine will blow up and e-kick my ass because eight years of post-secondary and published articles in the field isn't enough.

Don't bother wasting time with idiots. Some people just don't appreciate knowledge.

Happy Easter Hop

Which headunit do you have? I didn't realize it was an active capable head.

I won't be driving by for a while as the next 5 weeks I have to be in: Cincinnati, Detroit, Chicago, LA, KC

After that who knows where I will go next...

Any idea what timeframe you'll be in KC?

I have to buy tickets this week sometime, but I will let you know. I may reschedule that lag though so I go down to Wichita as well. I really need to make some visits there.

Depending on when your in the state I'll probably be free to roadtrip down to where you are.
