D/l'ing Office 2007 now. Let's hope it works.

You will hate it. I'm quite sure of that...basing this on what I know of you online.

I don't particularly care for it and use either OpenOffice or MS Office 2003 on all other computers.

So I might be here at the college (Kansas State University) for a Long time.

I work in the Civil Engg shop, basically we make whatever professors what for research apparatuses, maintenance on the machines, fixing machines, that sort of thing. We have a decent welding, metal, and wood shop, nothing wonderful, couple lathes, horiz and vert bandsaws, table saw, jointer, planar, chop saw, TIG/MIG/ARC welders, plasma torch, etc, etc.

I absolutely love this job and this type of work, not working at a desk, the work varies all the time, no routine boring bs to do. We get to make new stuff all the time, decent people, etc, etc. My boss is retiring soon and the two professors that deal with the shop the most want me to take his job when he retires and get trained on the MTS machines to help with the testing of beams out there.

So I would work part-time untill my boss retires, then I'd be in charge of the entire shop, be able to finish my degree (EE) then work there full time. They are looking at paying 44k per year which is plenty to keep me here, the living expenses here in Manhattan are not much and I like the town a lot.

So I'm seriously thinking of working with this and possibly perusing this job, this would allow me to work in a place with a shop, work with my hands and not at a desk (that would drive me insane, I don't think I could do that), and give me access to a shop that I can use for personal use anytime.

What I would dearly love to do is open my own custom home audio/hi-fi shop and build custom home audio speakers and do custom installs for people. This job would allow me to get a business like that off the ground, still have a shop until I can piece one together myself and still work in a job that I enjoy.

I just wanted to put my thoughts somewhere, I've been rolling this around in my head for about a week now and not sure what I'm going to do.

Basically I love learning new skills, working with my hands, and tedious work at a desk just bores me to death, I don't work in that environment. This job is like all my hobbies rolled into one place, getting paid for it, and the ability to work on personal projects too.

Tech's starting to require it...at least the engineering and business schools basically gave Vista the finger when it came to being a requirement, just couldn't get their stuff to work well on it.

I was kind of thinking of staying on the East Coast, but...need any help? :D Someone with a business background might come in handy ;)
