Anyone ever try one of those "cold" soldering irons I've seen infomercials for????

Biggest pos known to man. if your doing extemely and I mean extremely small repairs it would work. THe batteries don't last for crap, and it doesn't heat for crap. I have a couple that people have given me as gifts. I used one for about 2 minutes trying to solder a lead on a speed control for one of my rc cars. the wire is 18 gauge and about 4 inches long, the pos wouldn't heat it sufficiently to make a solid solder joint :( The others are still in the packages laying in the bottom of one of my toolboxes in the garage. :)

total crap,

Weller FTW, pretty much.

Done for the week, I really should be packing up and getting on the road but knowing me I'll be lazy and won't leave until the evening.

My woodcraft.com order isn't supposed to come in until next week anyway, so it's not like I can do anything when I get home :-/

yea everyone else seems to have gotten the soldering iron reviews, should have read before replying.

thing is, even if you're doing something where you can use the pen, it's leaps and bounds easier with just a normal soldering iron/gun

I've got this itch to build something for the 3" Tang Bands this weekend though. Ugly MDF style.

If we get the weather they are calling for Sunday , you will probably be able to hear me cussing all the way down in north cackalacky. Got some painting to do, and it's supposed to rain :(

That freaking texture paint takes for ever to dry as it is , all I need is more damn moisture in the air :(

Hell , we might even get to put some of the interior back in this weekend. But that all depends on the weather :)

Looking like the weather gonna kick us in the nuts hard..

I was planning on buying wood today and putting some deadener in the truck...but that's looking like it isn't going to happen since it is 27 degrees and supposed to sleet a damn inch...

Yeah lovely weather we are having :(

Yeah exactly. I thought I had at least 1/2 of Saturday to work on the Civic. With out a doubt, the most open time with daylight since before Thanksgiving I have had. But now they are forecasting snow well into Saturday for us.

:madsign:

You know how happy I am with GM lately, but nonetheless I think this is by far their best car.

Coming from you, that makes me happy.

The original plan was to get an '08 CTS, but it doesn't make sense to drop that kind of cash on a vehicle when you are in my situation with the highway and heavy snow travel, plus all of the other factors.
