Yep, making him the slave labor while hes here...

Just thinking about how that 4 pound sirloin roast is gonna taste after 13 hours in a crock pot :barf2:

:barf2: indeed. Crock pots have no use IMO....well other than to keep dip hot or similar for a buffet. They are not made for cooking.

I think it has its place, though may be limited. Putting most vegetables, especially green ones, in a crockpot will just make them mushy and not awesome. But I think meatballs are good, and a few months ago I made this awesome chicken stuff to put over rice and it was awesome as well. Too bad I can't remember the recipe, haha. I've got to start writing these things down. My gf has been asking for it like every month since then.

Let me clear up the misconception with my statement. Everything you can do in a crockpot you can do better in something else.

I probably wouldn't disagree with that.

It's about to rain on my brisket smoking :(. I still have 8 hours left, too. Might have to bring it inside to the oven until the rain goes by.

Luckily the first four hours are the most important as it has a hard time absorbing smoke after that; however, you still need to slow cook that beyotch.

well I just moved the smoker under the overhang in my back porch. It's about 5' x 5', haha. It didn't rain as much as I thought it was going to, seems we avoided the heavy stuff yet again somehow. But I decided to bring it in to the oven anyways because I ran out of the Jack Daniels wood chips we were using and charcoal all at the same time but didn't feel like going to the store to spend 20 bucks for more. So that was convenient that they ran out at the same time. Now just about 3-4 more hours at 225 in the oven while sitting in the marinating liquid + a little water under foil should do. Then we'll see how I did on my first time smoking.

I got to weld though :D :D

Welcome back tom.

I was just thinking that my favorite form of cooking is Dutch oven, it's another form of slow cooking. I have made a turkey in a trashcan before. Nothing like the juiciest turkey in the world after being up cooking it for 24 hours+
