Most likely the reason I'll never own any modern high end foreign car, I have no desire to fix them and I most likely won't want to take them to somewhere else to fix them.

And you drive a cadillac...

hey, the plugs were surprisingly easy to change on that caddy

:woot: Got a call back from Instron, and she is forwarding me to the guy that does the price quotes and what not.

That would be the sales guy, get ready to be gouged. :D

Yea.... wondering just how high that bill is going to be...

I've driven a lot worse, and you can't beat the price I got it for. :) When the dealer was going to give them only three digits for it and it works just fine... :)

And fixing it will be pretty much like a modern high end foreign car, even though it will probably break more often.

But when the car was virtually free, and at 136k it has had almost zero problems...

CNBC reports that Netflix' shipping systems have been at least partially broken since Tuesday. They managed to ship nothing on Tuesday, half of what they were supposed to on Wednesday, and nothing today.
On the pictures note, anyone have any suggestions for a cheap and fairly basic digital camera? I do not need many features ... simple video is pretty much standard now so that will work just fine. Prefer a LI battery I guess instead of burning through AA's ...

Are there really many differences at around the $100-$150 price point ... seem to be plenty of Sony, Samsung, Nikon, Canon, and Olympus in that range.

I personally prefer to buy from a camera company and not an electronics manufacturer. It is all in the lense, but as for which I'd have no idea at this point.

Sony typically uses Zeis for the optics portion of the camera. I have a Sony Cybershot that works plenty fine. It even got tossed and landed on gravel concrete and still works good (save from some pictures coming out a lil blurry if your not steady)

It is my understanding that it is some chinese or comparable lense with a zeiss name on it.

I believe that is correct, I think Carl Zeiss passed away and the Zeiss brand name was kind of killed off and Sony bought the rights to use it. From what I can recall, and I could be wrong here, but the last few Zeiss lenses were a standard chassis with just a different curvature to their primary lens with a patented coating.

Figures, I don't think I could bring myself to own a Sony product even if they actually were real Zeiss glass.

I've had a Canon A95 the past four years or so, works fine for what I use it for. Not expecting art out of it, that's for sure.

I wish Leica made a digital rangefinder with a full-sized sensor...or the price of medium-format digital backs would come down to something remotely affordable. Neither are likely to happen though :(

Worked 13 hours Tuesday and 12 hours yesterday in the field, so I get tomorrow off again! That's the third Friday in four weeks I've gotten off. I could get used to that. :) Too bad I don't get to go back into the field again until I get my new assignments first of October, so this is my last short week for probably at least 2 months. :( Now I just have to write reports and junk.

Surprised, Geico is good at trying to pay nothing. Hate those bastards.

Ran into that with a couple of friends from that hail storm we had earlier, bunch of bull chit is what it is.

How about Progressive? I just switched to them from Farmer's and saved 400 per year. Farmers was pretty good, I only had one claim with them (when my stereo got stolen), and they did what every insurance company should do, I had no beefs. But 400 is a lot.

It was weird seeing the breakdown of the where the premium comes from, though. With Farmers, about 280 was collision and comprehensive, whereas with Progressive it was only about 140 for those two. They were higher for bodily injury though.

I am not a big fan of them either, although they are way better than Geico. Be careful to compare your coverage carefully, both are really keen on giving you less for less.

Yeah I was wary of that as well. Everything stayed the same except bodily harm, which dropped from 100k/300k on my last insurance to 50k/150k on Progressive. But that's not a $200 difference in the premium, maybe $20.

I went to the store mainly to get bread and that was the one thing I didn't buy. stupid.

Man I'm loving this weather. Usually in August it's 100 degrees everyday, but it's supposed to be split between 70s and 80s for the next 10 days. niiiiiiiiiice.
