fuse to the wire, not the amp

Not sure I agree.

Obviously don't over-fuse the wire, but other than that the smaller the fuse the easier it will be to blow which of course is the purpose of having one in the first place. With idiots of course it might be safer to say fuse the wire, but really the magic spot is somewhere in the middle.

Although it probably doesn't make any difference in a daily system, a smaller fuse will have higher resistance and therefore less voltage to the amp.

I don't put my fuses right at the edge of the wire's current capacity, but like the next step smaller.

Voltage drop isn't something that I am personally worried about with fusing, but having the fuse do its job. Obviously severly undersizing it would be dumb as well though. I like to look at both values and pick the cheapest option somewhere in the middle.

all the wire is goin to be 1/0 and fused at 250A, then i will run it into the distro which will be fused to what i just posted above

The Crossfire VR404 didn't like something. woke up this morning and it wasn't on, so I went back and the power light would slowly come on, then snap off. Then slowly come on, then snap off. etc. It was a cool night and my other two amps were cold, but this one was burning hot after only a 10 minute drive at very low volume. So I unhooked it and opened it up, and this is what I found:

Sorry the second is a little blurry. Looks like four diodes let out some black smoke, though they don't seem breached themselves. Maybe I'll try to replace them. I only had the amp on some stock speakers. Maybe I blew one of them and protection on the amp didn't work? But, I'm not sure I care too much. I may just want a bigger 4 channel amp so that I only have 2 amps instead of 3, since I have 6 channels of amplification right but only four speakers to power. Anybody have a 100x4 amp to sell? I would also trade my Planet Audio TT2300 (2 x 150 @ 4 ohms) if you wanted it.

The two on the right I can tell are 1N4744 diodes and I can find replacements easily. But the ones on the left only say A on them. Any ideas on those?

NVM- found out a "744" just peeking out of the bottom of one that I can see. so they must all be the same.
