I'd rather just have displacement to begin with... Then look into forced induction.

Lightweight and displacement yes, the way of the old traditional big block mountain motors, no.

My V6 is a turd, but it is a lot of fun to toss around once it gets going. The extra weight off the front end and better balance more than makes it better to drive. Now combine that with some boost and you have double the pleasure. Displacement will always help, but at what cost?

I personally like the fact that it is naturally aspirated if for no other reason than less moving parts...

The 10,000 miles between oil changes is nifty too...

Did that program work Sean?

Not sure, I didn't have internet this weekend as the inlaws farm isn't exactly in urban America.

Hell at home we got fiber optic lines to every house in town. It was an rural development grant to give people actual internet rather than 33.6k dial up

NICE!

33.6 makes me want to cry. I remember back in my 14.4 days....

I never had to experience 14.4, my friends had 28.8 since their phone lines were so crappy.

Ha, my first modem was 300baud

Sean, on the note of you butchering your own pig, do we get the photo of you with a carved hog and a big ass knife?

The first pic I posted of myself on this site was me holding a halved pig up. :)

And Goat Ropers is in Farming, MN. Fucking hilarious.

that name is too awesome when combined with the cities name.

I don't know if I mentioned it but the lawyer that I'm working against in my mothers case is Hitler.

Okay gents.

I need a bookshelf DIY recomendation. I don't think the wife will let me put in towers in the living room unless they are spectacular to look at and have a small and not too tall foot print.

I have the 18" Q for low end anyway. She will use it to pound out music when she's in the mood so basically a strong mid bass for rock music. Probably used 95% of the time for TV/movie watching, but the reason for the upgrade is she wants to have better sounding louder music, and she hates watching action movies with the TV's crap speakers.

It will be backed up RIGHT against the wall, perhaps touching it. So forward vented or sealed?

Any sugestions?

Budget?

Look up the miniFonken's.

I think those are too small, near field office monitors though they would be perfect for.

since we're talking BGE's here, just how hot can you get 'em? 700? 800? More?

I managed to get my C4 so hot that the glass on the thermometer shattered. It also burned the edges on the gasket I have which has a melting point of 1500F. It won't stay that hot that long though.

$769.99 for the BGN with the nest. Is that about what you guys are getting them for?

Probably. They are pretty price fixed, so all published will be the same. The C4 is 4x that though.

Ahhh yes, that one. I wonder if Tom has that to post up... ;)

I could blow glass in it. I regularly find medium size hunks of glass in the ash when I let the old coal burn off. I'm pretty sure it can get into the 900's at the grate if not much more.

I should also mention that it burned off the felt gasket they have on there in less than 5 seconds once after opening while insanely hot.

Big Green Egg? What size

Nest?

I forget what I paid for my large but for some reason 700 sticks out in my mind.

I really don't want that to be a limiting factor.

If I really had to come down to it? I doubt I would invest more than 300-400 for a pair for everything. That puts it in the realm of cost of the NHT classic 3's that I really liked(though extremely harsh IMO) and under some of the b & w's.

That was for the large model. I believe the nest is the stand that holds it, not sure though.

It is a stand with wheels and a rack on each side.

Nice! If it can't reach at least 700F it ain't a grill as far as I'm concerned :werd_msword:

mmMMmm a little peper and lemon juice with butter and creme drizzled over panko and some parmesan on top of the scalops.
