Chris over at fisher customs is designing me a box for 2 nightshade 12's to go in my mustang. The box will be 3.8 cf total (1.9 cf each sub) with 4" aeroports on the side and subs facing back into the trunk. The box will be tuned to 35hz. This will be used for daily driving using two 1500's. I have seen on other threads where others using the nightshade 12's are using boxes with sizes around 1.5 cf for each sub or just slightly larger. Should I get Chris to trim down the size of the box to get closer to the 1.5 cf per sub? Or, is the 1.9cf more in line for that sub on daily driving? Thanks for the help.

depends at what impedence are you strapping the amps at.. if you are strapping at a nominal 1ohm then i would make the enclosure smaller to 1.5cubes and its also kinda based on where you are tuning to .. if you are tuning really low i would make sure to keep the box small with a lot of power because at some frequencies far from tuning it will unload and you could overextend the woofer which is what i have done in the past..

The box will be tuned to 35 hz. And when the amps are strapped, they will see 1 ohm each. Should I get the box size reduced a bit?

i was tuned at 34hz with aeros in my volvo box that was like 4.2 cubes or close to that... and it unloaded pretty bad and was very stressfull on the woofer.. i was strapped at 1ohm each amp seeing 1/2 but still i think it would make sure to get each woofer 1.5 cubes or close to that.

I'm going to get with Chris at Fisher Customs to see what we can do to trim the size just a bit to get us closer to the 1.5. Have you heard two nightshade 12's on just one 1500? Wondering if they would still get loud with just one?

1500 on each one is pushing their limits already, most everyone will say 800 watts for each will be plenty loud.

Oh, wow. Sorry everyone. I was under the assumption that he was getting ICON's. I take back everything and say get another 1500!
