ok so i have a 2006 chevy silverado krew cab and im going to remove the back seats and install front seats in the back(without the center console) now i know for a fact that i will be running only 1 and i want the BTLs but i dont know what sub to go with 12 or 15. also i was going to use a MA HK4000D amp to run the 12 but i wouldnt be sure what to run the 15 with if i decide to get that. im a do it your selfer and i have the time and the space to wire everything and make the box im just stuck on that issue.i listen to rap/metal/rock.

I like this idea but before you can decide on the size of the sub you need to know how much space you have to work with. Just saying the box will be between the seats doesn't help much, I'd also consider a different amp.

You might want to measure this out.

Thinking about it and i don't see it fitting with ease. If you do decide to do this, it's going to be a touch build :ehh:

o. didnt see that he was planning on putting it between the seats. ^ scratch my post up there

It still doesn't leave very much room tbh...

why wouldn't that amp work for the 15 if it works for the 12?

To me it comes down to space when deciding between 12 vs 15. Figure that out.

i havent measured it yet but i know that the box will I AM AN IDIOT AND I CANNOT SPELL PROBABLY come alittle bit like 4 inches above the rear firewall..i dont mind that it does..ill get back to you guys with the measurement...and what amp would you guys think i should get..i herd good things about the HK4000D.

wow so the admin on this sight change things that i say in my posts and then call me a idiot because i don't want to fully spell out the word probably? how childish. now that i know im back in high school and im in english class again ill try harder to impress you guys with spelling because that is more important than giving advice.

ANYWAYS thank everyone i appreciate the help and ill post some pictures up and show the progress.

Ok which one of you jackasses changed his post?

I told you in the back room to stay the hell out if you don't like it...did you simply not get it?

rrdshrapnel - I apologize for the staff here(wonder who it could be :rollseyes:), they seem to not understand what I wrote in the back room last week about their actions and flexing of moderation powers. None the less we need some measurements to work with.

ok so i did some rough measurements and they are asfollows:

W = 13.5"

L = 42"

H = 25"

totaling 8.2ft^3

ill probably go with the 12 lol i dont have the width for the 15

just by going off of that i know im going to have to be creative with the box. i dont know how to fiberglass and i dont want to fiberglass. so ill just have my pops help me build the box hes a cabnit-maker and has been doing it for a cupple 20 years lol. so he knows all the wood working tricks and has all the tools to do it. ill just be out of a truck for a quick minute.

what type/size of porting do you guys rec.?

  • Author

oh and those measurements are not counting the wood thickness the sub displacement or the port displacement...im kinda wanted to going to a little of SQ and SPL i know its prittymuch either one or the other but the glass is always half full in my world haha

I believe it is a filter on a certain misspelled words.

As for what to get I think I would go with a 12 just because of the weird orientation of the box. You could do sub forward port up.

You could do sub forward port up.

sub forward like facing the front of the truck right? if so that is what i was thinking about doing and just put the amp ontop of the box.

I think with those dimensions, it would be a really tight fit for a 12. Why not step down to 2 10" bl's, or even 3 of them, and keep everything else the same. It be an easier fit.

3 10s would be nice but im a 12" or 15" guy. alot of people run 10s in trucks in my town and i want to be different money is not a problem. lol the marine corps garentees my paycheck twice a month. as long as i can get the 12 in their im good :D

yea i talked to my dad and he said its like a day to build the box and like a day for the glue to cure/set he said he would use drywall screws and glue and put calk on all the seams of the box. and would cost about 200 bucks with the carpet

That is correct, it is a word filter

Johnecon, because of your mod status the word filter is disabled
