they changed the motor.... so you no longer need tripple stacked.... the new motor is better then the old:D

instead of using 3 smaller magnets, they now use 1 large magnet. 11" in diameter i beleive

11.25" Rob!

11.25" Rob!

11.25" it is ;)

I wonder if the single magnet motor is cheaper for production than the triple stacked one?

I am 99% sure Scott said the answer to that question is NO!

edit - I should add when I tested the new BTL, I gained 0.7 dB vs the old BTL in a one-for-one swap using the same amps, same enclosure, and same vehicle.

I wish.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more expensive :(.

Because of the extra steel in the top plate?

Definitely hit the pocket book hard with the new motor for us.

A single new magnet costs more than 3 times all three of the older version magnets combined. But, we did get a little gain out of things as well as hit the mark with a rather distinct looking motor. I was simply tired of being another triple stack 220mm motor on the market. Yes we do things differently, but stacked side by side to the dozen others... who cares.

Being that we move significantly more BTLs than we originally did when the line started, we are able to eat the $$$ loss and bring a better product to market. Oh, and yes, there is quite a bit more steel in these as well adding to the overall cost. In many high excursion applications it is cheaper to stack magnets than to use steel for spacing.

Thanks,

Scott
