Went to local stereo shop, they bought a new termlab meter. I played 36-42hz tones and peaked at 36 hz with a 147.3, did 147.1 playing lil jon (throw it up). Need to do alot of deadening on roof. Running 2 saz-1500ds strapped on 2 bl 18s. The sundown amps are the best amps I have owned, may get 2 more. Voltage dropped down to the 12s. SUNDOWN AUDIO. Also met Justin Adams who is Sundown rep for alabama, very cool guy.

nice score man!

i am sure people have done alot more with less, but I was pretty happy with this being first big stereo I have installed and built though. thanks ssaudio

What impedence are the coils? I have 2 1500d's wired at .5 ohms each and they make more power that way then they do at 2 ohms strapped. I'd be willing to bet if you could run one amp per sub you'd see more power and a gain in spl.

i have mine ran strapped at 2ohms. I didnt want to run them at .5 cause they are not warrantied, and plus my truck was built just for daily beating. I just went there and they had a meter so got it checked.

Nice score. What is your box tuned to?

My vehicle too is for daily beating, and only meter it to see if I've reached my goal for a 150 db 2 12" daily driver. Running at .5 is not reccomended, but is safe if you can supply the amps with enough juice to perform. I only have the stock battery up front and a Powermaster D3100 in the rear and don't drop below 12 volts on music that often. During a burp I go from 14.4 down to 12.6, so you could run them if you had a decent large battery or two. Still though I would be willing to bet that you will see more power and they will be louder if you run each amp at 1 ohm. When you run one per driver you are spliting the nominal impedence between the woofer instead of combining them into a single mono output. This allows the impedence rise to be less than what it would be if the amps are running strapped.

For example if you had a nominal load of 1 ohm per amp and after rise was calculated by dividing the amps voltage by the current it puts out you would have the rise of the enclosure. That tends to be in multiples such as 2, 4, 8... So if you were at 1 ohm nominal the lowest you normally would see is a 1.X ohm load reactive. Now throw in the equation of two subs resistance across two amps at 2 ohms and with rise your probably only making power in the 4 ohm range. Which would mean that your amps are only making about 2300-2700 watts. Now if you were to split up that load across the two amps at 1 ohm per amp nominal the rise would be in the 2 ohm or more range allowing your amps to make more power since they are running at a lower impedence. In my car this made a 1.8 db difference by switching from one large mono amp with a 1 ohm load to 2 smaller mono amps at a .5 ohm load. They were different brand amps, but similar in power output in the end.

It's something to think about and by no means do you have to try it, but if you want to do some testing and see which would be better you have some firm ground to stand on for starts.

thanks for suggestions, i may try it. I have my stock battery up front, 1 powermaster d3100 in back and stock 130 amp alt. I plan to get another 3100 in couple weeks and will be deadening the roof hopefully by the weekend. My voltage goes from 14.4 to about 13.3 playing pretty hard, burping from a 36hz to a 40hz it dropped to about 12.5-12.8.

I just read where they would not warranty them at .5, so I just decided not to try it. But, I like to hear when others have done it, and they did not have problems.

To abxx, my box is tuned to 33hz, little over 19 cubes before sub and port, 15-15.3 after all displacements. I wanted it to pick up the lows good, has 200+ square inches of port

What kinda car you got? I ran my 3000d @ .5 with electrical going down to the 11.6 mark. Went into thermal protect only 2 times that I can think of. One time cause I was demoing it real hard at a competition.

98 expedition. i played it hard demoing it today, and dropped to 11.8, amps never cut out. may run amps at .5 and see. Got some other ideas now, not sure what i am going to do

get more power to that amp... you will see that it will never get hot and it will never shut down....

sec... with what was it 4 or 5 dekas you were still droping to 11s?

think i am going to sell the bl's and get 2 nightshades, and maybe 2 more 1500ds. Definitely a couple more d3100s.

They were different brand amps, but similar in power output in the end.

you strapped two different brand amps together..

Nah - his single amp was a different brand vs. the two amps.

I did the test between strapped @ 2ohms and seperate @ 1ohm each back when I had my Bl 18s. There wasn't any difference in TL #s. I kept them strapped though because I liked only having one remote bass knob.

cool, thats good to know. I like it strapped just for having to only set 1 amp.
