February 12, 200916 yr nice work but wrong section.........you need to post your pics in with the members build logs
February 15, 200916 yr Author this played in an audi A3 with the backseats taken out for about a year , I had build it for an audio dealer back then who is a good friend of mine , when he bought a different car , the sub was supposed to be in his livingroom temorarely but never made it back in his car , so it has been wrecking porcelain since .I've got a few more ,and I'll begin with a build for an Ascendant-Audio Mayhem 15d2 in a couple of weeks , which will get to endure 5000+Wrms , but I'm still undecided in box style , QWtl or bassreflex ,termlab measuring has also yet to decide which way to point woofer and portmouth (any suggestions? ,its going to be in an Mazda MX3)
March 4, 200916 yr Have you done any enclosures for cars, or just TH type stuff? Do you just do it for fun or do you resell your enclosures?
March 4, 200916 yr Author the kicker-enclosure is a 60 litre(2,1 cuFt) 35cm port cabinet (tuned for a big Hatchback)I typically dont work on HT systems , can do it as long the system is activly EQ't ,So I normally build car-enclosures as is this (the port-tuning is not particulary suited for HT , works well non the less)and Yes I also sell and build on contract , most of my builds are for friends though ,I aim to have as much fun a possible building enclosures ,because that for me is the hobby .I'm from the Netherlands ,Europe ,so it will probably be of no use for US members to ask me for a build .build 2 : 150 litres (5.3 cuFt) tuned @ 33Hzgetting started : bracings:fitting ports:terminal cutout:gluing together:sanding(includig me in the picture):paint:endresult:
March 4, 200916 yr Very nice building box building skills. I do not see any screws in that box. Maybe the people debating on whether or not to use screws can learn from your bracing techniques.
March 4, 200916 yr great woodwork!I agree with another poster. The first enclosure looked really good with the natural plywood! Could've been a great candidate for a nice stain and high gloss finish!!
March 4, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the comments guys , @bigpete , I tryed a black stain but it didnt work out the way I wanted .I liked it better too before paint , the box wasnt for me @nmssd12 , I use srews sometimes too , there are pro's and cons , MDF isnt very strong its just a question of where you apply force to it , keep that in mind and srews can work fine,in the end the glue is the stuff that keeps it all together
March 8, 200916 yr Author 3th one :60 liters tuned @ 45hz for a Hertz HXS12splhave to search for a pic including the woofer(I think I've got the box in the attic, maybe I'll pull it out and make a pic of it)
March 8, 200916 yr Author 4th one 90 liters closed for an Exodus-Audio Tempest-Xfirst one with srews terminal wired , look at the topplate of the box below , its a backloaded horn I'll post later.
March 10, 200916 yr seriously, its almost like your bracing should be on the outside to be the eye candy of the finished install.
