this played in an audi A3 with the backseats taken out for about a year , I had build it for an audio dealer back then who is a good friend of mine , when he bought a different car , the sub was supposed to be in his livingroom temorarely but never made it back in his car , so it has been wrecking porcelain since .

I've got a few more ,and I'll begin with a build for an Ascendant-Audio Mayhem 15d2 in a couple of weeks , which will get to endure 5000+Wrms ,

but I'm still undecided in box style , QWtl or bassreflex ,termlab measuring has also yet to decide which way to point woofer and portmouth (any suggestions? ,its going to be in an Mazda MX3)

damn thats great work on that enclosure!

how big is it (volume)?

  • 3 weeks later...

Have you done any enclosures for cars, or just TH type stuff? Do you just do it for fun or do you resell your enclosures?

the kicker-enclosure is a 60 litre(2,1 cuFt) 35cm port cabinet (tuned for a big Hatchback)

I typically dont work on HT systems , can do it as long the system is activly EQ't ,

So I normally build car-enclosures as is this (the port-tuning is not particulary suited for HT , works well non the less)

and Yes I also sell and build on contract , most of my builds are for friends though ,

I aim to have as much fun a possible building enclosures ,because that for me is the hobby .

I'm from the Netherlands ,Europe ,so it will probably be of no use for US members to ask me for a build .

build 2 :

150 litres (5.3 cuFt) tuned @ 33Hz

Wow, almost and artistic bracing look. Very nice work!!

Very nice building box building skills. I do not see any screws in that box. Maybe the people debating on whether or not to use screws can learn from your bracing techniques.

great woodwork!

I agree with another poster. The first enclosure looked really good with the natural plywood! Could've been a great candidate for a nice stain and high gloss finish!!

Thanks for the comments guys ,

@bigpete , I tryed a black stain but it didnt work out the way I wanted .

I liked it better too before paint , the box wasnt for me

@nmssd12 , I use srews sometimes too , there are pro's and cons , MDF isnt very strong its just a question of where you apply force to it , keep that in mind and srews can work fine,

in the end the glue is the stuff that keeps it all together

3th one :

60 liters tuned @ 45hz for a Hertz HXS12spl

have to search for a pic including the woofer

(I think I've got the box in the attic, maybe I'll pull it out and make a pic of it)

seriously, its almost like your bracing should be on the outside to be the eye candy of the finished install. :)
