Posted March 16, 200520 yr Ok well ive pretty much decided on getting a single 12" RL-p i will most likely go for the dual 4ohm coil config, but what im having problems deciding on is what amp to buy and the best size box to build for it and weather to go sealed or to port it. im pretty much open to anything but have roughly a $200 to $250 budget on the amp. Thanks in advance,Matt
March 16, 200520 yr u want an amp that puts out about 750 to 1000 watts. what kind of box and size depends on the room u have in ur car
March 16, 200520 yr decent amp quality and sound for around $200 with 800rms? non other then a vibe1200d...that beast will give you 1200rms at 1 ohm but since u will be sucking only a 2 ohm load, it has shown to give you 800rms at 2 ohms mono...http://www.carsound.com/reviews/amps/vibe1200d.htmlit shouldn't be more then 250 shipped...if u want to buy used too, try to find a 801d online...which box to build? what kind of music do u like listening to? do u like it loud and kinda bloomy or do u want accuracy? good luck my friend...
March 16, 200520 yr here's a good one....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5760765975&rd=1here's a decent one..w/ free install kit..http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5759192293&rd=1another option...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5758478864&rd=1another good choice..http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5758485790&rd=1another..http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5758536247&rd=1most of these produce their power at 2 ohm...except the hifonics, which is 1 ohm stable, but will give u 900wrms rated at 2 ohm...that list took about 5 minutes at ebay..lol...any of those amps will work and there are myraids of others available.box will depend on power and music. the rl-p i have in my wife's car is in 1.25ft^3 sealed getting 750wrms from an hifonics nemesis nx750d. loud and low. i have also played the rl-p in 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz with 750 and 1200 wrms....awesome!my recommendation? 1.25ft^3 sealed with 1000wrms or 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz (25in^2 of port) and 750wrms.both would do just about any kind of music justice.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
March 16, 200520 yr Admin to add to the Kicker and MTX that mrray posted, the Orion 600D is a very worthy addition, all three will do over 600 watts easy and have plenty of power for the RL-p
March 16, 200520 yr Author i listen to mostly country and rock so im looking for the sub to be nice and punchy and prescise, as for space i could easily fit a ported box for 1 12" but ive never herd a good ported setup before so i dont really know what to expect. ive been thinking about just building both a sealed and a ported box and seeing what i like best.Matt
March 16, 200520 yr Admin you can still get tight puchy bass from a ported box, but if you have never liked a ported sound before maybe you should run sealed
