Posted April 1, 200916 yr I designed a box that is 10cuft@32hz its in a 2000 GMC Jimmy. Is that too much cuft?
April 1, 200916 yr It'll lower the power handling, but other than that it's just up to you if you like the way it sounds.
April 1, 200916 yr I designed a box that is 10cuft@32hz its in a 2000 GMC Jimmy. Is that too much cuft?I wouldnt say so if you lower the amount of power going to it.I have been waiting to see what a Q18 sounds like in that max spec box at 32hz. I really want to see 2 Q15s in a 8cuft box after displacement.Pics?
April 1, 200916 yr Author There will be a sundown saz1500d on it, with 2 yellow tops. I changed it i decided to go with a little smaller. More like 7cuft@30hz

April 1, 200916 yr Author I had it in about 6 cubes before. I just started cutting the box, I'm almost done cutting now. I decided to go with abouts 8.5 cubes@30Hz.
April 2, 200916 yr What options on the sub? Doesnt change things thermally in a larger enclosure, normally just mechanically in that there is a larger air spring behind it and it cant handle quite as much. Thanks,Scott

I almost have the box done now. Its about 7 cubes after all displacement. Sub on top Port on front, with 1" thick plexiglass window.
April 9, 200916 yr It is pretty dumb to build a box smaller to increase mechanical handling. It won't yield any more SPL if both alignments are correct, and just lowers efficiency and increases distortion....
