Don't mind the title but it made you look.. :coolugh:

Well I must say my sundown is GREAT, my pioneer SPL 12" D2's sound great but was lacking in bass race today. So am pulling them back out ( I just got them in yesterday ) and want to run 2 15" so I can get the numbers I am looking for 145+ run in 139.9 class, but my problem is do you think 2 FI BL's D2 on a sundown 3000 at .5 ohms before rise would be ok or is that going to be to much for the BL's for a 30 sec bass race run?

If the 3000D is to much for the FI's I have would one sundown nightshade D2 with upgrades be better. I am sure the 2 15" BL's would be louder right due to cone area. Reason I am thinking the BL's is because I have 3 sitting here and no nightshades right now ( unless Jacob wants to send me one ) .. :(

They would be going in a Chevy 2500 HD 4 door, wanting to know what would be best to tune these to as well. I want it to sound good but still do good in bass race, I was thinking something low like 32 to 35. My pioneers are tuned to 40 right now but could not do a 139.9 today. They pioneers went in to replace my TC motor / XXX single 15" and it did a 139.1 the time I ran it last but was a different amp at the time, I thought the 2 pioneers would out do the 1 15" but I was dead wrong today.

Any thoughts and sorry for the long post, I hope it makes sense I was baking in the sun all day at a comp.. lol

Thats what I thought as well, but the 2 Pioneer SPL subs wired at .5 on the sundown did not put the numbers up today when I tried.. I ran it 2 times.. :(

I got pissed and left.. lol

depends on the setup, sealed or ported, what tone or music you were playing through, your electrical system and what settings you had on the headunit and on the amp.

Its all in the set up.... I was able to Bass Race a 142.x with as little as a 1000 watts in a trunk car.

Edit: I am sure you were but I'll ask anyway.... were you using a song that is close to the vehicles peak freq.

What are the specs on your box?

For the Pioneer SPL 12" it is 2.7 cubes each sub ported to 40. Braced very well and 3 4" area port.. subs up ports foward any the only way I can really put it..

What settings you looking for from the h/u and amp?

BL's will take the power fine, and new motors for 2009 also.

bl's http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=396323

If the bl's can take the sundown I think I would be happier with them.. Just need to build a box...

Just a question, what would be best to tune these to for daily and bass race, I was thinking 30 to 35? Is slot better or areo? last one sub up port(s) forward or subs forward port(s) up?

i was able to make 139.8dB average (over 30secs) and 143.3dB @ 40Hz (peak) in a 2.4cu.ft box tuned 36Hz, using 1 Pioneer 5000SPL 12" and a pair of SAZ1500D amplifiers.. i could have crossed the 140dB mark but i took it a little too easy at the start of the run..

the box used was sub up, port facing to the side.. works pretty well..
