Posted April 10, 200916 yr I will be using 4 -8 aura transducers (50 watts rating each) in my sectional couch. I think I will start out with 4 though because from what people's reviews say, 4 should be good for my sectional. My sectional is like this. One about 7ft 3 cushion couch, one about 5ft 2 cushion couch, and one about 5ft chaise. I need an amp to power 4 or more but I want to stay pretty cheap but still have reliability. Well here are three I have found to work for my situation. What do you guys think?Nady Audio Stereo Power Amplifier XA-900 - $150 shipped.rated for 900 watts bridged at 4 ohms but I really think its like 400 watts bridged at 4 ohms. So I can power 4 of the transducers with this. This would be my first choice on price alone but if reliability is a problem then I will look at the others.Phonic MAX 1600 Power Amplifier - $210 shipped.rated 280W @ 8 ohms per channel or 450W @ 4 ohms per channel. I think its really like 140W @ 8 ohms per channel and 225W @ 4 ohms per channel. This is fairly cheap but I don't know anything about it. I think it would be good to power two tranducers per channel @ 8 ohms or 4 transducers per channel @ 4 ohms. I can even add more if I want to in the future.CROWN XLS 202B Power Amplifier - $230 shipped.rated for 300W @ 4 ohms per channel. I can run 4 transducers per channel and be able to add 4 more if i wanted to use both channels. This is on the high end of my budget but if its worth the price for reliability then I can do that.It looks like the phonic amp will be good for me because of the different configurations I can use for future add-ons. It is also fairly priced. It has just the right amount of power for the transducers and more but I don't know if its a reliable amp.or How can I use maybe a 2 channel receiver to power the transducers? I also have a sub dedicated amp also in my set-up. Edited April 10, 200916 yr by phi
April 13, 200916 yr Author The $230 for the crown is gone so yea. If I can get the crown for less than 200 then its the crown for sure but if not then I think I will have to go with the receiver idea. I am still looking though. Edited April 13, 200916 yr by phi
April 13, 200916 yr Just be careful with putting a lot of power to those. I had a couple and I think I blew them with a 50 watt per channel amp. They aren't as easy to tell when they're stressed as speakers..
April 13, 200916 yr Author Did you have the aura pro version (50 rms watts)? I think I'd have it turned down a lot anyways. I like to have good headroom.
April 14, 200916 yr Author Well, sorry to say that I didn't go with the crown. But I didn't go with one of the other options either. I got a good deal on an amp on ebay so I bought it for 150 shipped.
April 14, 200916 yr What did you end up with for an amp? I use to have some on a futon while I lived in the dorms. Women seemed to really enjoy watching movies on that futon... I had mine powered off of a ART SLA-1 amp, 100w was enough power with headroom for one of them. They were a neat toy, but I want something more than just my butt shaking for the low end on movies.
April 14, 200916 yr Author I won a Yamaha M-60 power amp. I am also using a MJ-18M in the mix for the low end as well.

April 15, 200916 yr The women love a ride on the motorcycle even more though... FIxed! The bass shakers do help actually. Less expencive too. I will also say, they can do quite a bit for video games to add a little "impact".
April 15, 200916 yr Author Yup. This set-up is for video gaming (first person shooters mostly) and movie effects (the girlfriend will love it). 20% for music listening but I may have to turn it down for that. I am not going to tell any one of my friends that I am going to do this. I want to see their reaction when the first explosion happens. I will only need a projector after this and my theater project will be finally finished but thats probably not going to be a while due to money shortage. Hehe. Well, there will be little projects in the mix like a flexy component rack and theater curtains or large beams with the component racks integrated under them so I can fit the largest projection screen in there.
April 16, 200916 yr once you got with a PJ you won't go back. I have been on that tip for about 7 years. One of the best purchases I have ever made. It's an adiction though. If you think mobile audio can get expencive, wait untill you get into home audio and HT.Yikes!
April 16, 200916 yr Author I know what you mean. I feel like I'm on crack when I see a home theater set-up.
