Posted April 13, 200916 yr I'm planning on purchasing 2 12" SSD's and power them with my MMats 1400.1. Question, the subs come dual 2 ohm. With two of them wouldn't that make the amp run at .5 ohm? This wouldn't work right?
April 13, 200916 yr if u wire them together in parallel it will come down to .5but if you wire the subs in series then parallel you will have a 2ohm load.
April 13, 200916 yr Author In that case it wouldn't put out 1400wrms correct if it's running at 2ohm?
April 13, 200916 yr if that amp can be stable at .5 ohms then it would be great for the two SSDs. I doubt it is over 1000 watts at 2 ohms though because it is rated for 1400 watts at 1 ohm. Wiring them to 2 ohms with that amp could sound great if your more into a better sound than getting loud.
April 13, 200916 yr Author I'm thinking of running a 15" BTL (dual 2 ohm) off of it. How's that sound?
April 13, 200916 yr not enough? lol. I'd do 2000 watts for a BTL, but it never hurts to under power. However, with only 1400 watts and probably rated at 14.4 volts then I would get a BL to use with that amp because then you wouldn't waste the extra money on something that you would only under power. You will get louder with the BTL than with the BL with both running the same amp ( in the the right enclosure). However, if you are in the market for a cheaper BTL, then check out my FS thread.EDIT: Nevermind. My BTL is dual 1 ohm. Edited April 13, 200916 yr by phi
