Alright, with all the outstanding reviews, and everything I've heard about quality and customer service, I'm getting a ssa sub. But, which? I've thought about going with the xcon, but I just think that will be too much for me. (Possible?)

My last sub was a 15" spl sub, but was ridiculously underpowered. The last correctly powered sub I was running was a 12" kicker l7.

I want something louder, and cleaner. Would an icon be enough?

Take note, the l7 was in an nasty prefab box, and was in the trunk of a 1991 Chevy Lumina. The ssa will be in the back of a 2000 celica, with the right box.

So, icon or xcon? I'll be most likely running it on a 1000w mono block from kicker. But, I've also taken into consideration the amp/sub packages you guys have.

Alright. Thanks in advance for the advice. =)

If a 1000 watt amp, and wanting to go single driver, the Icon or the Xcon will be a good choice. Both are great on that power. If you are worried about output, I would see if you can fit a ported enclosure for a 15" of either model. Maybe CRX style, sub's up port back, but tuned around 31hz, and in the area of 3.0 - 4 cubes.

x2 iv done a swap with less power to icons then the l7s that were in my buddies truck and the icons blew it away

I was thinking about doing a crx style box. That's really good to hear about the icons blowing away the l7's. I plan on upgrading power throughout time, so do you think it would just be a better idea to go xcon? I've been debating the sundown/xcon combo.

Either way, I've already started saving. Being a broke 17 year old is no fun =p

If you plan on a power upgrade in the future, i'd just go XCON, and get it over with :)

You won't believe the SQ and sledgehammer like output. There's a guy on here running two on 750watts/ea, and he's blown away by it.

That i am Mark and so is anyone who hears them. All i ever get is "no way that's 750 a driver its gotta be at least 1500 each." Seriously one if not the most impressive driver iv got the honor to use.

I run a 15" Icon, and it is really loud, if you want it !!!

My old Kicker 08 S15L7 in a 4ft3 sealed enclosure was like "a one note player" with 1000w rms : kind of spl sub (?) in my opinion.

The Icon is in the same box, with a round port, and it kicks ass!!!!!!!!! Now, I can listen to (all kind of) music, all kind of bass notes!

Coming from a 15L7, the Icon is more than enough. But you're coming from a 12 : it should be day and night !!!

The Xcon seems to be a fantastic woofer, I'd love to have one, because I am an audio addict for sure, but don't forget the weight in your trunk! And the money to spend

Thanks for all the input! It seems like it's xcon or bust now.

Time to start being a little more thrifty and start saving. :fing34:

I have a 15" Icon on around 1100 watts rms in 3.1 @ 29.5 hz, It tears shit up and destroys the lows..

You wont be dissapointed trust me. I would recommend ported if you have the space. I havent heard a sealed Icon but ported for sure has output and still sounds great.

Thanks for the positive feed back. A few other people have gone from T1's to an Icon and have been very happy with the switch. I would assume, some of the performance difference has to do with the lower suggested tuning for SSA drivers then RF drivers. :)
