Posted June 15, 200916 yr For box purposes, I am looking to get an idea of the weight of the 15 inch HDC3 and the 2009BL. I know my old BL was around 34 pounds but I know the new ones are heavier.Any info would help. Thanks Edited June 15, 200916 yr by Mynameismcgyver
June 15, 200916 yr Be pretty close to that. Why would you care about a pound or two?Why did you make two threads to ask the same question?
June 15, 200916 yr Author I need to find out asap so I can calculate and design the box. Pretty important in this potential design. I remember reading that the new BL was upwards of 10pds heavier but I cannot confirm this at all.Got the weight for the AQ. Edited June 15, 200916 yr by Mynameismcgyver

June 16, 200916 yr just FYI, you're speaking to probably the most knowledgeable person on this forum, only other person I'd rank with him would be ramos who I don't see anymore. ...dope

June 16, 200916 yr Are you planning on using 3/8" wood or something?my sub will snap a .75" piece of mdf easy as hell thats just sitting on the box

For something like that he should be using a double baffle anyway. It won't matter to box design more than just the enclosure volume if he is working with limited space.

June 16, 200916 yr an HDC312 is 48.5 lbsif u use proper bracing on the baffle, weight shouldnt be a problem.
June 16, 200916 yr an HDC312 is 48.5 lbsif u use proper bracing on the baffle, weight shouldnt be a problem.see that is what I was getting at I was just in a hurry. I know my aq has broke a baffle before and my heavier subs that would be even worse oh and I was close on the weight I have had them for along time

A ten pound difference in this setup is a big difference for all you "know it all's". Suspension in this car is now insufficient for this build. Thanks for all that help and no thanks for the dopes that have big mouths.
June 17, 200916 yr It is really, really easy to get a good answer. Read the noobie guidelines and make a thread that follows them. And don't make two of the same thread Lots of ways to address the 50lbs, but I guess you already know all of those. On top of that the weight of the sub still doesn't at all effect the design of the proper enclosure for it.So chill the eff out.
