I am not sure about that but I did order some cable from www.weldingsupply.com I will say it is very flexible and well insulated. You get what you pay for. If you try it out and it is up to par shoot me a message and let me know because I wouldn't mind buying some at that price.

I bought some used 1/0 welding cable from BenHemp and they are flexible and have plenty of strands too. Well worth the money.

Was it the same cable that Cable Yard has?

I have used 4/0 welding cable in a prior install. Still have the wire. :)

yeah i think i may pick some up here real soon to have spare. cant touch that price

welding cable is the way to go. It's cheap and works just as well as any other power cabling. Wire is wire.

to each his own, IMO...

I don't like using welding cable because

the insulation cracks and splits over time.

But I have seen a lot of people use it.

I'm using 3/0 in my install right now. I bought mine local though.

My Dad was a welder for 34 years, I have never seen insulation crack on any welding cable he used. Day after day of being dragged around on concrete, dirt, over steel. In the sun, in the heat, in the cold, rained on while rolled up on the trailer. Major abuse nad no insulation problems. Maybe you got bad cable. . .

I have purchased welding cable from cable yard. Good stuff.

Bought my 4/0 from ebay and now it is even cheaper!!! You can get 30 ft for under $100.

The insulation on welding cable is far more durable than any car audio type cable. It's rated for direct burial and higher temps as well. Unlike the 12V industry, the welding cable is regulated, just like commercial and residential cable.

I've had some 'car audio' wire sit in direct sunlight for a whole summer and the color faded away.

I should also mention that I heated the living live out of some welding wire with a hot air gun up to the point where I could solder the wire and the insulation was just like new.

Always going to use welding wire for my installs. Cheap and durable.

I use flex a prene welding cable for my welders and for audio. Welding cable is the way to go.

Used it on pretty much all our team installs as well as friends and it works great. I like it allot more than my car audio cable I have now and wish I would have known about this before. Welding Cable FTW!

I for the life of me can't remember what FTW stands for so please refresh my memory.

But I concur, welding wire is the way to go. That's what I'll be using on any of my other installs after the one I currently have. I was a welder the the past 9 years and I have never seen the cable crack or split, even after it was on fire!

Go with it, you'll be OK.
