i am trying to fit 8 gauge in the push button terminals on my subs ... how do you recommend i fit it in there? .... you need to put 2 strands on some terminals and i cant stuff them in there tight enough... should i solder them together and then push them in or is there something i am missing

Use a smaller gauge, 8 is way overkill

i use wire strippers gauged for what size will work, sorta the same" trim and twist" method bromo reffered to , just the strippers get you pretty close the first time.

For my subs I used Rockford Fosgate 13AWG twisted speaker wire and attached all three wires coming out of the box to an 8 gauge connectore with 8 gauge wire leavng the connector to amps speaker terminals. its probably gonna be complicated to get those 8 gauge wires in there and you dont want to risk them slipping out for your subs safety or to keep you from taking you speakers out the box to put them back in when they do fall out. just my .02

i run 8awg in my terminals.

I would not recommend trying to parallel the connections at the terminals though... not with 8awg, lol.

Instead, like me, you can run wire from each terminal + and - to an area where u can then do your parallel wiring and use butt connectors.

you guys don't understand.,... if you want to fit two 8g strands in a hole for one 8g strand, you can get a 4g to 8g reducer, and put 2 8g pieces in the 4g side... and the reduced 8g side in the sub.

and i don't see a reason why this is the stupidest thing ever, .. cause it works, if someone really wants two 8g strands this will work.

It's a 1000w sub woofer for christsake. Use 12awg.

Thats a good way to do it. I just used those red twist caps and twisted the wires together, then taped them to make sure they didn't come off. I always use either 10 or 8 ga for speaker wire on subs. If you can do it, it's not gonna hurt anything to go bigger.

...Or You Could Just Twist The Damn Things.

Or Use The Proper Gauge, Especially For This Particular Driver.

Just trim to fit. I understand that getting reducers looks better, but if your sub is mounted with the motor inside the box nobody will see it. And you'll get the same amount of contact between the wires and terminals either way.

True.... but at times we do things that work good and are reliable in our builds, even though they weren't intended by the manufacturer to do so.. that said i use the twist caps they come in handy and are easier to use especially if u have dd subs.

Reliable and twist caps with stranded wire are not something that can be used in the same sentence. Just not a good idea.

You never, EVER use twist caps for stranded wire. They will come off and take half the wire with them with the smallest amount of pressure.

I have cleaned up so many installs where dumb rednecks used twist caps for their head unit and wonder why it doesn't work!

you are defeating the purpose of the dual 8g. if only one 8g goes in the terminal that's all that is effectively being used.
