i was wondering since you guys have a bit of experiance, but i have a ford windstar 1996 with a Alpine 9816, was was wondering should i upgrade? cause the am getting attracted to the NEW sony's with Tilt and the Kenwoods with Tilt. would it matter if i changed? make a difference in quality or sound? if so any recommendations on a good HU with tilt. :)

Sony car audio is junk as far as im concerned.

Unless its some nice sony ES stuff, but even then, its hard to find.

Never been a fan of Kenwood, just keep the alpine

Or upgrade to a new Alpine, my 9831 has a tilt face.

keep the Alpine

The new kenwoods aren't that bad from what i hear, but why change a good thing? unless u really want too ...

guess i will keep i have just gone through about 10 decks and i always want to upgrade. i had the sony m8000, 903 pansonic 8100 pansonic and they where alright this one caught my eye with the 60x4

the sony steve linked is awesome. i've installed several, absolutley no cpmplaints.

the key to sony..make sure u get the blue illumination. if u get a sony with red..u've bought junk.

now..the alpine u have is indeed a nice unit, but the newer sony's (the higher end ones like steve posted) can more then run with the same model line alpine, panasonic, clarion, kenwood, jvc..whatever u wanna plug in there.

while i'll agree the rest of sony's lineup is laughable, not the h/u's..i miss mine, it was stronger then the alpine i traded to ryan and replaced the sony with. alpine did have an advantage, they wouldn't skip the way the older sony's do. but i haven't seen that problem yet in the new sony's....and how can u argue with the burr-brown da thingy??

oh, the 60x4? wishful thinking..on ANY brand h/u

but get what will make u happy...i like the recommendation for the new model alpine as well...but if sony is on the list, jsut make sure of what ur getting.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Here's my input. I've used equipment from every end of the spectrum. IMO, a lot of the times when equipment breaks it's user-error. Even cheap CD players are of such a high quality nowadays due to technology. Just think about it.

I'll tell you guys something. I have this old Pyramid amp in storage that I've had since I was 11. The thing is a rock. I have tortured this thing beyond anything anyone could ever imagine. This was the first amp I ever had and it got tested with everything. I once had six 15s wired up to this thing with who knows what wiring configuration and never has it let me down. It's been too hat to touch, blown a million fuses, seen ohm loads it should never have even thought of seeing and it still works flawlessly.
