is there an audible difference between 2000 watts and 3400 watts? or an audible difference between 2500 watts and 3800 watts? and i don't mean ac mic or termlab difference, i mean human ear difference

very dependent honestly. probably wont hear a world of difference but a small amount might meter a few db's higher though.

Maybe. Depends, if you're listening. ;)

Lol. It is 99.99999999999999% Install dependent.

But for arguments sake, in most cases, there would be at least a little difference.

it depends on the install and the spl of the woofer you change from one woofer to another brand woofer the spl could change this is the efficiency of a sub to get loud quick or slow. btw do not trust subs base on this only look at stuff like xmax spl surface area of cone and rms wattage and the rest depends on how good you are at boxes. the reason i say it depend on the hole install is a crap sub does no good in a good box.

Doubling your amplifier power = +3db higher. Or that's the way it used to be.

i figured that, but would u even notice those few db's?

3dB is the minimum that the average human can discern a difference between. ie if you have better than average or well trained ears you can hear better, but not orders of magnitude better

If you had a lot of time in between, then no there would be no perceived difference even in a 3dB shift

Are you talking about say 2000watts on two ICONS vs 3500watts on two ICONS? Or 2000watts on two ICONS vs 3500watts on three ICONS?

Way to fuck up one worthless thread Sean!

It also depends on if the subs can handle the power increase. If you have a 2000 watt sub and want to increase the power to it from 2000 to 3400, I don't think you'll get the +2db that the +3db for doubling of power rule would provide, due to power compression (if the sub could even take the extra power mechanically or thermally). But if you had like a 4000 watt capable sub and jumped from 2000 to 3400, I think you'd see the gain. At least on the meter. Whether you'd still hear it, I don't know.

3500+ watts on a pair of Icon's is too much power, there is no advantage to put that much to them.

well, i'm strictly talkin about icons here. i'm talkin any sub that can take the power

So are you strictly talking about icons or not? Reread what you post.
