Posted August 25, 200916 yr so i took my box out of my car to add some fiberglass resin to it, and some supports, but i was wondering what side should a port be on for the best spl. passenger side or drivers side. the sub and port will be facing the trunk. Thanks,
August 29, 200916 yr Generally you load the mic side with the sub. Meaning since they generally put the mic on the passenger side, you want the port to be on the driver's side.
August 29, 200916 yr i have found that porting on one side of the box will cause the further sub to fight to breath and the closer sub to the port will bottom out first.
August 29, 200916 yr Port on the rigth works good for most cars but you will need to test because no 2 cars will be the same.
August 30, 200916 yr Mine is on drivers side, gets pretty loud. Havent tested the other way, though. Really only way to tell is to test, like bromo said.
August 31, 200916 yr "Common wisdom" is to put the port and sub on opposite sides, but to be honest when I did it in the hatch eons ago both in the middle worked beautifully. Edited August 31, 200916 yr by Zach Gates
September 6, 200916 yr Thor runs his port on drivers side as do i, from trunk cars with forward firing boxes sealed from the boot this seems to be the loudest setupI guess the only real way to tell is flip the box and test and see which is louder on the meterEdit: If its the car in your sig then sub up port back for sure, if you can or dont want to run sub up then i would run the port on the drivers side, but like i said subs forward/up would be much better and meter louder too Edited September 6, 200916 yr by Samuel
