Okay.. I might be able to snag a pair of these 10w7 for a decent price. However, I am worried that because they are single 3 ohm coils, then I will not be able to run them efficiently on the Sundown amps. The 10w7 is rated at 750 watts rms each at 3 ohms.

What are some amp and wiring configurations that would work for me?

I'd like to give them their recommended power, but the JL website shows that the subs don't like to handle more than 750 watts continuous as it gets to the black line (warranty voided). Is this power rating from JL "over-rated" or "under-rated" for their subs?

I currently have 2 gauge power and grounds run in the car.. will your amp suggestions cause me to have to re-wire the car? This would also be another concern because hiding another run of cable or a larger cable will be quite difficult.

I have a feeling that the SAZ-1000d would have some trouble with running a pair of 10w7's. Perhaps even a SAZ-1500d might not be ideal... although I do not have any personal experience with the amps and their respective power ratings.

Just on paper.. it looks like I would need to give the subs a total 1500 watts rms ( 750 watts each). How would I get that kind of power from the smaller SAZ-1000d amp at a 1.5 ohm load (parallel) by using two 3 ohm coils?

Are the subs power requirements severely over-rated... and the amps output specs severely under-rated?

Can this amp really give me the power the subs would need?

If it were me I would do 2 125.2's one per sub. Or a 1000d. Just because the subs will handle 750 watts doesn't mean you have to give them that. I think a 1500d would be a little overkill.

Don't get me wrong I have run JL subs many times in the past and found JL has made some great subs in their day. But my experence with the w7 models tell me they are over rated. I also suggest a 1000d for them.

Speakers do not have power requirements. They simply get louder with more power, up to a point. In this case it's 750 watts.

There would be no problem AT ALL putting less than recommended power on a speaker.

SAZ-1500D would be plenty for 2 W7's.

get a 1500D, maybe a 2000D if you mess with the settings and tune the gain right and such. Im sure they can take their power, so be careful, Sundown are underrated some, not much, but some.
