Posted September 17, 200916 yr okay fellars, i got a SAZ 3000D and i am going to be getting a WMD2R 15", it is a dual 1ohm sub, it does 1500 rms. with ease from what i understand, i am thinking that i will run the amp at 2ohms. so it will be an easy relationship on both, i know i could wire to .5 ohm and the sub will take alot more wattage......but i figure this will be plenty. so my question is, with a 2 ohm load, what type of amprage should i have avaiable for my amp, like what size alt and battery combo,,,, i got the welding cable and plenty of it, so i got that part going on. thanks Chop.
September 17, 200916 yr 2ohm, i'd say about 80aH in the rear.Alternator - 143.235663A It must be that size or it won't work... sorry.Oh wait, i have another option on the alternator!140-160A would be fine for that ohm load for longterm daily. If you ever wanted to change and run it at 1 ohm, u better get your 200A+ minimum...It never hurts to get the biggest early if u do plan on going bigger later on.

September 17, 200916 yr if u dont plan on keepin it long or upgrading, keep your stock alt as long as it's at least 100A.Just dont ever sit at idle blastin.
September 18, 200915 yr i run my my 3000d on about 200aH worth of battery with stock 120A alternator and i have yet to go below 12.6 even after 10min of straight play. Mind you that's a pretty decent battery bank but with music your never gonna have a full pull like you do on tones.
September 18, 200915 yr Author right on, there are some local guys that can upgrade my current alt so it is a little stronger, for cheap, then i am thiking of having dual batteries up front, plenty of room and dual in the rear, not huge ones but decent ones....
