Posted September 19, 200915 yr Ok I was told the Sundown 4500D is a bad amp because the 86% eff @ 4ohms at 100Hz, so I was told to look into the HellFire 2500.1, the MTX TA92001, and the T1500-1bd. I am going to be getting 2 12" BTLs, fully loaded daily drivers. Anyone have any words of wisdom?

September 19, 200915 yr Author Also Id be running the sub at 2 ohms most likely, depending on if I get one or two amps Edited September 19, 200915 yr by forsellb
September 19, 200915 yr I don't think the sundown is a bad choice they do rated power PLUS more, i own the saz 3000d and i love it.
September 19, 200915 yr Author I don't think the sundown is a bad choice they do rated power PLUS more, i own the saz 3000d and i love it.Yea, I didnt think it was either, but all the amps I posted do rated power, then some. and the sundown has a 'supposedly horrible' eff ratio.. Im so confused now.. I was just gonna get the 4500D plus the BTLs but then my friend told me about that eff thing now Im lost lol
September 19, 200915 yr They're great, my amp barely gets warm running at 2 ohms pushing 1500+ watts rms on a fi bl 15
September 19, 200915 yr Author They're great, my amp barely gets warm running at 2 ohms pushing 1500+ watts rms on a fi bl 15does it have great SQ? I mean I understand its a massive amp but yea.. So you think the original plan for the 4500D is still the best idea? And if I run it at 1O for 2 12 BTLs it should be fine?
September 19, 200915 yr Yeah, i think so, but i dont have my sub stage and front stage battling over who is louder, so its pretty goddamn loud but its pretty even and nice. I have not had the pleasure to play with the BTLS but the little brother the bl is pretty crazy sub, you could always do two Bl's on a SAZ-3000d buy it refurbished from www.db-r.com 555 before shipping b-stock. that's what i spent
September 19, 200915 yr Who told you that? I want to know so I can slap them in the face for being retarded. 86% is fine. And who cares about the 4ohm efficiency I mean really? Going to be running it at 4ohm playing 100Hz only? But you have to remember the 4500 is a large step up compared to all the other mentioned amps. And to meet the power output of the SAZ you would need two-three of the other amps.Hell Fire 2500.1Efficiency: 88.6% @ 4ohmsMTX TA92001N/ARockFord86% @ 4-Ohm85% @ 2-Ohm68% @ 1-Ohm

Im planning on 2 BTLs so I was counting on 2 of the other amps listed, I want 2kw rms atleast on each. So the 4500D is perfect right? 2 ohms on the subs, 1ohm at the amp.

September 19, 200915 yr if you do get the Sundown make sure you have the electrical for it, batteries, big 3, H/0 alt etcthis is what the 4500 is pushing in terms of power3100 Watts @ 1 ohm nominal rising to 2.67 ohms on 14.4v dropping to 13.6 volts4650 Wats @ 0.25 ohm nominal rising to 0.71 ohms on 14.4v dropping to 11.6 volts

Your going to need 2-4 2400 per amp depending on amp. And big 3 is upgrading your main grounds and power wires under hood.
September 19, 200915 yr Nope big 3 is from alternator + to battery Alternator - to chassis the chassis to - terminal on battery (I used 1/0 wire). if you don't plan on runnning your system with your car off you should go with the Deka batteries they're half the price and do 100 AH's per 9a31 batteries for 187 and shipping.
September 19, 200915 yr The SAZ-3500D would be the best amp for you. The 4500 is more geared towards SPL applications as it likes extremely low ohm loads.

September 19, 200915 yr x2There is no harm in under powering subwoofers, and if its not enough buy another amplifier and link em' I've learned you dont have to push the subs to their limits. Edited September 19, 200915 yr by Julian

September 20, 200915 yr Author So just forget about the whole eff thing? with the 4ohm 100hz 86%? And I was thinking what if I get the 2000D, one for each sub, would that be fine?
