ok im going to be buying 2 fi bl 12" fully loaded an im gonna run them off a aq2200d amp. 2.5 cubes per sub tuned between 32-34. so i wanna get some components for my front doors but im gonna have 2200 watts of bass an i wanna be able to hear all the vocals. which ever speakers i get they will be runnin off a alpine mrp f300 amp. the amp will be bridged givin the speakers 150 watts each.

now i was lookin at both of these.

budget is 250. so please tell me what speakers i can get runnin off that amp that'll keep up with my subs.

I'm not too knowledgeable on those components that you posted.

A good suggestion would be a pair of Phoenix Gold RDS65s. I have 2 sets of these in my car and couldn't be happier. The tweeters dont play harshly and they have decent midbass. The price is austonishing for the sound quality that comes out of these speakers. I'd recommend these to anyone thats on a budget for highs.

You won't find any speakers that can keep up with 2200 watts on bass!

Try to find the "best" or the loudest speakers with the power you have for them. And instal them properly, with deadening material, speaker ring,...

First, you should go to a shop and listen to some sets. It would be better to listen in some cars like yours!

Then you will start to know better what you want and need. Then, again, the "gurus" here will be able to help you easily.

I would choose the IDs. But neither of them, and nothing really, will keep up with over 2000 watts on subs.

You guys mean to tell me that 2000w of sub power will overwhelm any configuration of front stage speakers???

That can't be possible.... Worst case scenario you could have several sets of tweeters to balance it out, but I think there must be something that can keep up with a substage like this. tweeters require a lot less power than subs to reach higher DB, so its not like your going to need 2000w of tweeters

Turn down the sub amp gain, get a smaller amplifier, and be smart with the volume knob.

To be honest you wouldn't want something that could match the output of your subs. 145 db with a tweeter will probably make your head explode.

ID horns will do more than keep up. Going to have to spend as much on your front stage as your subs/amps if you truly want it to "keep up". Maybe more as depending on what compromises you make.

i don't know if this is of any help so i'll just throw it out there-

No one really knows exactly how loud something is going to be when it's not even built or installed yet so it's almost impossible to know exactly what needs to be done to your front stage to compensate...

So, what i do\did is install universal remote gain controllers, one mainly for sub amps and another possibly for your front stage.

This way you can control and balance the amount of power being to sent to your subs and your front stage for music to balance the sound out to your own listening preference.

Now, i really use them for competition because i have way more bass then i do front stage so when i tend to listen to music, i have to adjust the bass amps to a reasonable level, but for competition, that's different,

You may want to look into those as an alternative to your confusion.

I still do plan on having my doors redone to hold a monsterous amount of mids in the doors but for the time being, this solution works great.

Why would you need to pad both your sub and front stage? That doesn't make sense.

ok well ill just turn the sub gain down on the head unit when i wanna listen to music. then turn it back up when i want pure bass. i think im between these 2 speakers now.

I guess it kinda depends on what he means by keep up, whether that be actually at the same volume as the subs, or to where you can at least hear the words, which would likely be several dbs down. Do horns actually sound good at 145 db? All I think of are car alarms that are that loud and it's ear screeching.

Nothing in highs sound good that loud. They won't need to be to "keep up" either. I do really hate the verbage keep up. Could just refer to the desire to be deaf by next year.

Turn the bass down then you can hear the highs...............

Plus 140db+ of fullrange/highs will send you deaf pretty darn quick, much moreso than 140db of subbass freq's

can the CTX65CS - Image Dynamics handle 150 watts each?

Their RMS rating is 100. Don't get caught up on power ratings for component speakers anyways.

Well throw them in your car and put 150rms and see how long they last (yeah they probably could take but for how long, maybe the people who throw 150rms probably only do so for a little while). You ask a question and get an answer but still wanna do it your way, so just by them and throw more power on them than recommended and see where that gets you. Good luck.

Also remember that it won't be getting a full 150wrms unless your playing it full tilt......... Amps aren't light switches........

yes i realize that music is dynamic so they wont be gettin 150 at all times. only when the music is pushin it to 150. well i'll have a clean signal so im sure they'll last a while.
