I finally completed my box for my BTL this last weekend and got it stuffed in my truck last night. Its rough and simple and I dont have any pics as I returned my dig cam. I didnt know it took AA batts so I returned it after my trip to Ark.

The box is 42W" x 22H" x 22D" w/out any bracing or 45's. Just a double baffle top. It is 7.5ft3 at 32 hertz with 123 sqin of port area. The port is 6 inches wide. It is sub up, port up.

I am running a 250amp Mechman alt with a Die Hard truck/suv batt under the hood. I have 1/0 wiring with 8ga. speaker wire. Im currently running a Hifonics BXI2006.

This driver POUNDS the lows like Ive never heard before! fing05.gif Comparing it to the 4 12's I took out, its without question pounding much harder. Now it doesnt hit higher notes as loud like my 12's did but it absolutely hammers the lows. The 12's hit the lows very well too, just not like this. I think my already cracked back window is going to bust out here in the near future.

Very nice job to the guys at fi. This driver is built like a tank. Exceeded my expectations from the very start. Thise driver sounds so nice and Im very glad I bought this. This is the bass Ive been looking for. Thank you fi. :drink40:

Now I need to get my project going on the MLI-65's in the doors. Changing out the driver side window motor and regulator assembly so its a perfect itme to put in my damplifier lite and get that going.

Nice review man! post some pics when you can!

i love my 18" btl also although i have yet to hear it lol.

Good review and glad you like your new equipment. What 4-12's are you comparing this too, what size enclosure and tuning frequency did you have them in?

They are Hertz ES300 4 ohm svc. I believe about 300-350rms each. There was 2 boxes at around 4 cuft each. Each box was divided also. It was tuned at what I thought was about 33hz. They are simple flared pvc ports. Must be a little different cause the BTL at 32hz doesnt hit the higher notes like the 12's did.

Allright after a few amp adjustments I now have some serious (for me anyways) spl!

The settings are: subsonic filter at 15hz which is all the way down; bass boast is all the way down; LPF is dead center between 35hz and 250hz; phase is at 1/4; gain is at a little under 3/4.

Originally I had the LPF at about 1/4 turn and the subsonic at the same. The amp only gives the start and the end numbers on the settings so its hard to give an exact number on what my settings are.

Do any of the settings I have now or before sound out of whack? Its definately hitting the higher notes like the 12's did and better now. Just sounds a little weird to me sometimes. I dont know if its my truck rattling to pieces or a weird sound from the sub.

I personally would turn that sub-sonic filter back to where you had it, about 1/4 of the turn. Just my .02

Just turned it back and cant really notice a difference. See how it sounds on my 3 hour commute back home tonight. God damn I need some dampening in my cab.

Regardless if you dont notice something, your subsonic filter really should be between 0-10Hz lower than box tuning.

OK thanks for the info. I'll have to remember that.

On another note Texas smeared UTEP across the field today. Damn, that was a blowout.

I definantly appreciate the update because I didnt watch a lick of College Football today at all, until now this Purdue and Nortre Dame game and cant catch the score of Texas's game on the bottom of ESPN because Im paying more attention to this forum.

I think it was 64-7. I was watching that too but the Iowa and PennSt is looking better now.

I took some pics of the box finally and got a little video too. The box was something real simple as it was the first slot ported box Ive ever built so it looks a little ghetto. The sound on the video sucks but you get the idea. I need my mids and highs badly!

Installed an SAZ1500D today on the BTL and Im lovin. I can tell the difference right off the batt. This amp is badass. Steady 14 volts plus has this truck slamming. Hits so hard, the cd player skips on the dash so I have to fix that before the volume goes up anymore.

That vid is the old one with the BXI2006D. That was pretty loud. I still need to make a new one with the SAZ1500D. The BTL is really moving now. I can hear the difference between the two and its unmistakable.woot.gif

Here is the one I made today with the SAZ1500D and my mli65s in their mock enclosures. The front stage is so much better now its pathetic. Its by no means done or anything. Ive got a long ways to go yet.

The BTL is starting to jump now though. When I can, Id love the rip out all the interior and deaden the entire cab. The firewall and floorboard 4x4 lever needs some heat barrier like a mofo. In the summer, my feet are a cookin!

The camera volume still blows.

You got that right dude. So much bass, you can hear me from 10 blocks away...laugh.gif

In all seriousness, nothing cosmetic really gets fixed on this truck. Engine, drive train, suspension, brakes, and...beat. Thats about it.
