Posted September 24, 200915 yr well i was playing some new tracks and then i opened my trunk and felt weird smell from woofer, it's playing great but there is some kind a smell, like glue is burning or something, and dust cap gets a little bit warm, am i pushing it too far ?I got 15" JBL rated 350W RMS running it @ 4ohms 500W RMS
September 24, 200915 yr probably the excess glue around your voice coil. Most new subs have that smell for a few days.If it's not an electrical smell, it will probably go away. If it does not, then it could be a problem later.

September 25, 200915 yr How did you set your gains, or is 500 watts what your amp puts out and you just turned it up guessing that is how much power the sub is getting?

It could be 500w @ 4 ohm at 12.5v, 13.8v or 14.4v.
