well i was playing some new tracks and then i opened my trunk and felt weird smell from woofer, it's playing great but there is some kind a smell, like glue is burning or something, and dust cap gets a little bit warm, am i pushing it too far ?

I got 15" JBL rated 350W RMS running it @ 4ohms 500W RMS

probably the excess glue around your voice coil. Most new subs have that smell for a few days.

If it's not an electrical smell, it will probably go away. If it does not, then it could be a problem later.

You just answered your own question. Excess glue or not, you are getting it hot. That smell is always my warning to back it down a little. . .

Stop pushing the sub so hard unless you dont want to keep it, the smell is the sub telling you to ease up man (thats why speakers have an rms rating).

I used to have loud button on, yesterday i made new settings to my HU with loud button turned off. i playied some track and had that little smell. The sub is 2 months old. I went out today to do some testing again, but this time i didnt have any of that smell. ill just keep my eye on thtat thing and let you know.

How did you set your gains, or is 500 watts what your amp puts out and you just turned it up guessing that is how much power the sub is getting?

What brand is the amp? It could be 500w @ 4 ohm at 12.5v, 13.8v or 14.4v.

Any way you slice it a true 500 watt amp is still overpowering for a 350 watt sub.

Bottom line is that the sub is getting too much power.
