i'd like to stay under 40'' wide and keep my box 16'' tall. depth doesnt matter, i think its somethin like 55'' deep?

Please read Noob Posting Guidelines before posting again so you can get your questions answered properly and give us more information.

What kind of box (which should of been stated from start)? Sealed or Ported

If ported what do you want it ported too (if you dont know, what type of music do you listen to)?

Which direction do you want your subs and port facing?

not to be an arseho since im still new but i did mention that. the only thing i didnt mention in my first post was that i wanted it tuned to around 34hz

7.5 Cubic feet with 120 square inches of port tuned between 33-35HZ should be a good start!

If you want anything SPL orientated I would email Rusty at DC Soundlabs.

ive got the box all figured out... one last question tho, since im going subs up and port back, would it be better to do the port on the side of the box or in the middle of the two subs?

I would do it in the middle for better bracing and your subs will both push air into the port evenly.

You can check with Fisher customs, they do designs also.

subs up port back is a great start, usually seems to be the loudest in an SUV. I would recommend trying to go for as big of port as possible without going goofy, somewhere in 16-18 sq. in. of port area per cuft of box volume. this usually helps with SPL output. and you have the depth to work, so shouldn't be a problem for longer length of ports.
