November 7, 200915 yr ive heard some bad things about winisd. never used it personally so i dont know first hand just hear say. like the tuning and it telling how it will react in a vehical are off a bit. but like i said im not sure.Wrong.lol. Okay, WinISD cannot tell you how your sub will respond in the car because all cars are different. It isn't wrong though on box tuning and calculations.Right.

It isn't wrong though on box tuning and calculations.like i said ive never used the program. so i dont know a damn thing about it. its just what ive come to think when people talk about the program. i wouldnt use it because i have a far superior program to tell me things that matter like how good the port flow will be, and true interior volume and so on. (Solidworks and Cosmos FTW) it does take a long time to do it tho, so i only do that kind of stuff for my self. also it just as easy to design a box by hand then to use a program. programs should only be used to find out how well the box will work, not to design it.all of this was my opinion and not fact.
November 8, 200915 yr lol. I am sorry to tell you that WinSD will tell you port air velocity as well. it takes 2 mins to set up.
November 8, 200915 yr While WinISD may be able to show you Port Velocity... it will be just as wrong as assuming the spl graph will have the same response graph in the car...The Port Velocity graph changes based on power input... Ok, common sense... but here's the problem-The program attempts to calculate impedance rise at every note. This program has and can never be right at calculating impedance rise because there are 1,000s of ways of building a box equaling the same NET volume and different materials, bracing, etc...The result- if the impedance calculation is wrong compared to real world testing, then the port velocity graph will also be wrong.

Assume an even impedance across the entire spectrum and be even more wrong? It's far better to at least try. And what are you saying, box shape changes impedance?
