My amp is mounted in the middle of my trunk and today i had to take everything out to install some more spl tiles i got in the mail, when i put everything back in and opened my trunk, a drop or 2 of water (it has been raining the past 3 days in st louis) fell onto the circuit board of my t2k...it fell in right by the phase switch. After that when i turned the car on, the sub (FI BTL) was making a awful low scratching noise, at first i figured it was the rca's to close to a power wire, messed around with the rca's which helped a little. I finally figured out it had to have been the water when i unplugged the RCA's and it continued making the noise until i unplugged the speaker wires. it went anywhere from the small scratching noise, to a high pitch squeal, i hit it with the blow dryer on the lowest setting for about a minute which also seemed to help a little.

anyone have any idea on what i should do? my next step is taking off the top of the t2k and physically drying it all and wiping away any water spots.

btw, the sub will still play but i dont like hearing distortion from my 500 dollar sub, also the VC is not blown, i pushed in on the sub (while amp was turned off) and didnt hear any scratching.

I would take it out but wouldnt wipe it down due to you could break more parts in the amp

If the amp isnt under warr, I would take the top off and check it out. Cant hurt.

and you know what it hink a kid on here a similar issue with a sae1200 amp. it turns out he had a blown zener diode! i will look to see if i can find the thread! he even made a movie!!

Yeah I would of took the top off and used the blow dryer when it first happened, be careful if you try and wipe it down on your own. Move your amp in the future also.

hey i found the thread!! take a look at the youtube movie does your sub make that noise?

soo when i went to wipe it down i fired it up again, and guess what....

the noise is gone.

idk what happened but its working now so its all good

Glad it worked for you, yeah usually with electronics if you get them a little wet the best thing to do is try and open them up and blow hot air in them (blow dryer if possible). Be aware sometimes it can shorten the life spand of it also, but I hope all is well for you in the future with amp. Good luck .
